As a result of activrty in pursuit of the advancement of the Christian religion, St Michael's Parish Church Belfast has vjstody of property and records, materials and artefacts of signthcance to the cultural and religious heritage arKI maintenance of which is undertaken by the Select Vesty of St Michael's Parish Church 8effa$t Achievements, Perfomiancg & Public Benefft St Michad'3 Parish Church achieves its purposes through varyiNJ activitbes includiTrJ public worship. prayer, provision of pastoral eare. rn110n and outreach, parish groups and Special Public Worship Vve strive in leading our public worship to (xeate an environment where all are welcome. provide an opportunty where wide raNJe of people may encounter and worship God. St Mithael's Parish Church has weekty services on Sunday comprising of a mix of Hdy Communion, Famity Service. Baptism and MomirKJ Prayer. Spea'al services are held leadirrfJ up to Easter and Christinas our Carol Service attracts &4ditional visitors. We value the involvement arNJ leadership of many people, indudirvJ musicians and Y(xrth Leaders. We pray regularty for our communty and those n n1. Pastoral Work seek to offer eare to parishior*rs of all ages and to support people at signifant points in their lives. Clergy and our pastoral team visit vulnerable and older people who are in care homes, assisted housing or those less able to atterKJ church to provide pastoral and spiritual 3UPPOrt. Visits are made to parishioners in hospital arKI in preparation for bapb.sms and weddings. We also condud fvnerals f(x church members as well as for the lo(xl communty. Local Communlty We are involved in the local communty throLMJh a member of the Parish serving on the Board of Governors of Malvem Primary School and encourage the work of tTr school by helping to maintsin standards and practices. In addition the staff of the Parish lead assemblies. St Michael's Church in conjunction with The United of St Stephen and St Luke collectively known as COILS (Chur(* of Ireland Lower Shankill) operate jointty in l)oth Parishes to provide social outreach army support to the people of the lower Shankill. Social Outreach The Parish has undertaken to engage with the wider society, particulaty those wtK> are vulnerable or disadvantaged, through Social outreach activities. • Foodbank - on going Colleth. of foodstuff and househokl rteffts in partnership with Shankill Methodist Church. supporting people in need in the Shankill area. • an after school club for Malvern Primary children. • a kids drama and activty dub for some children from Malvem Primary School. • Messy Churth orKe a month. • Men's Breakfast open to all men in newhbouriTrJ parish thurthe3. • financial assistsnce to missionary and humanitsrian organisations workirvJ in other CntrIes. Public Benefft The Trustees have given careful consideration to the Charity ComMi10n for Northem IrelarKI's guidance on public benefft to ensure that the actNities entered into during the year have helped to achieve the Parish's objectives arKI activities. as well as providing public benefrt. Regular worship, outreach into the community and beyorKI. fundraising efforts arKI pastoral care. particularty for sick and elderly help us meet our public benefit resF)onsibll'es. Our church hall is used regularly by other outside organisaticms. A(xYss to Church properties is restricted for public safety to named key holders and St Michael's Parish MitateS any potential harm from the activibes thrgh the implementation of the Church of IrelarKI Safeguarding Trust Policy. Financial Review Finances are managed by the Honorary Treasurer who distributes and presents a financial report to the trustees at our monthly Select Vestry Meetings. The parish operated three accounts - a General Account. a 8uildiThJ and Reserve account and a dedicated Funding Account for COILS and we also hokl shares in Santander. The Parish's incOff shows proceeds from Frethvill Offering (envelopes). Gift Aid and subscnptions from church originations. towards the use of the church halls. Restricted income towards specific prciects and monies received by the pariqh to be forwarded to missionary and chantabla gti8$. Wa also receive a rental incomes from properties at 5 Sunningdale Park and 17 Weslway Park Belfast both of which the pansh owns. The Pafish Treasurer wrth the pemiission of the Trustees administers an account of behaff of COILS. Following all these transactions the ACcnts at end of the year were as follows: Current Account- -£73e g8 Reserve Account - £68.635.24 FundirrfJ Account - £14.589.84 Shares- £936.00

Recruitrn•nt and Appointment of Select Vgstry trrustees) All members of the Church of Ireland who are over age of 18 and are either resident within the parish or live elsewhere but have been accustomed members of the cororegation for at least three months, may register as members of the General Vesty of the Parish. allowing them to attend and vote at rrwting of the General Vestry and to stand for election to the Select Vestry. Meetings of the General Vesty are held at least once a year. The Select Vestry is elected as part of the General Vestry meetsng. The Select Vestry will hold their positions for a period of one year. Select Vestry members may be relethd annualty and there is no limit on the number of terms, which may be served. Pay and Remuneration The Parish Clergy and Development Officer also works with a nehbring Parish namety The United Parishes of St Stephen & St Luke. The COI Diocese of Connor pays the Salaries of these employees and St Michael's pay the Diocese half of the totsl salary. The ottrr half being paKI by St Stephen's & St Luke's Parish Church. This arrangement was agreed by both parishes to Simplrfy Salar and wages and also National Insurance and PAYE. Organisational Structure The Select Vesty is responsibbe for the day-t(Hlay management of the parish. The Select Vesty consists of the member of the clergy serving in the parish. any curate assistsnt, and the churchwardens the glebe wardens and 9eneralty not more than twelve other member3 of ttr General Vestry elected at the Select Vesty. The Select Vesty is chaired by the inuJmbent or other member of the clefgy officiatirvJ in the parish including deadirKJ how parish funds are to be appliad. The Select Vesty meets at times fixed by the members. Speeial meetings may be convened at any time by the chairperson or churchwardens. In 2023 the Select Vestry met eight during the year and the average attendance was 87%.

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of RecommerKled Pracb"ce applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republbc of Ireland (FRS 102), the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.
