Charitable Purposes The declared charitable purposes of the Ministry for Europe Trust are: the advancement of the Evongelicol Christsan Faith. the odvoncement of education. the relief of povety. the advoncement of community development. and the improvement of the holistic life of communities in countries within Europe und carried out exclusively in a manner th(rt Is beneficial to the public ond is rec(￿nIsed by the law of Northern Ireland as being charitoble. Achievements and Performance Total income for the year amounted to £59,375 (prior year, £63,085) with total expenditure of £69,039 (prior year, £59,657) resulting in a deficit of £9,664 (prior year, surplus £3,428). As a result, the year-end cash balance decreased to £15,443. However. this reduction to a more historic level had been forecast in our last report, being linked to ye3r-end holding of restricted funds for Ukraine and Bibles which were then distributed. as anticipated, in the earty months of the current financial year. Whilst no in person visits to partners in mainland Europe were made during the year, regular and frequent contact was maintained via telephone. email and social media to ensure that the directors / trustees were abreast of developments and needs. During the period of l May 2022- 30 April 2023, MET has continued to be involved in the promotion of the Christian faith and the well-being of people primarily in Israel, Moldova, Northern Ireland, and Ukraine, while seeking to further encourage the Christian testimony in Greece, Hungary, Republic of Ireland, North ma￿don1a, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, and the UK. Grants totalling £64,284 (93.1% of total expenditure) were made over the course of the year. Typical of the work which MEf grants have supported are these arttvities in Ukraine, Israel. North Macedonia, and Ireland: Ukralne: The war in Ukraine was a mainstream news item throughout the year and MET was able to make significant grants towards the attivities of known partners who, in addition to providing much needed humanitarian aid, were including New Testaments and other Christian literature in the language of the recipients in the food parcels and hygiene packs that were and continue to be distributed daily in large numbers- some in Ukraine and some in neighbouring countries such as Moldova.

Israel: In previous years we have reported on the pioneering work of known partners in reachtng out to sex workers and substance abusers in15rael, particularly in Tel Aviv and Be'ersheva, but also other cities such as Ashkelon and Haifa. MET was again in the position to assist this work financially, which brings dirertion into the lives of the adults and relieve the suffering of their children and families. The men and women are honourably befriended, while they are still living on the Streets, and invited to a daycentre run by our partners Aviv Ministries in Tel AVN. While there, they are offered free food, clean clothin& rest, medical advice and the free offer of the rehabilitation centre, in Be'ersheva in the south of the country. More re￿ntlY a safe haven for women has a150 been opened in Be'e￿heYa to which METwas able to make significant grants. We wish to continue to finanualty support these unique. laudable. and onoing works, which bring together Israelis, Arabs, and Russians. North Macedonia: MET'S partner in North Ma￿don1a travels long distances to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to teach and encourage small groups of Christians in remote rural areas. MET was able to provide regular grants that are used towards the cost of New Testaments for free distribution as well as meeting very practical needs such as the heating of church buildings in the cold winter Months. Annual summer camps forthe poorest of children were again freely offered and some 80 children attended. There, they were given new clothes, fed well. offered any required medical help and teaching from the Bible. These works are on-going and MET wishes to continue to financially support them. Ireland: Closer to "home" poverty in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland is also very real and often compounded by unemployment, orfamilies split through alcohol and/orsubstance abuse resulting in the children and young people in many homes being left in need. MET continues to provide finance to partners who are providing both humanitarian and spiritual help to these people. The majority of the above projects are onoin& and we look forward to being able to visit them On￿ again and to see the lives of more people changed. as well as the local living conditions built to allow a greater standard of living in some of the most deprNed areas of Europe. On behalf of all who so selflessly supported the work of MET over the course of the year in any way, we give our heartfelt thanks. Approved and authorised for issue by the Board on ...
