As an umbrella organisation, BIG is regarded as playing an integral part in fostering improved communty cohesion. promoting communty participati)n, and assisting with communty planning and regenerath)n. In collaborat(on with the Ballybeen cornmuftty, BIG has created, maintained. and expanded nefviorks with the voluntary, public, and stalutory sectors over this past year. Through en9aging with cornmunity cornrnittees and Ihe existing sub-groups. which also have representation from Ihese sectors, communication is taking place. The reporting period is representative ol all achievements for Ihe finalar year of 2022-23 and the 4th year iaking on the Department for Cornmunities contract independently. During this per)d. there was continued growth in responsibility and workload increase wilh regards to Govemance and oversp3ht from the board. 8uilding Relationships We place a high importance on our working partnerships, Thrwghout the reporting period. we have established arKI mainlained important connedions with statutory organisalions like the Department for munities, the PSNI. the NIHE. Lisbum & Castlereagh City Council. and Ouf member groups-particularly those thal depend on BIG'S support to thrive-as well as with our council members. MLAS, and Ibe MP for East Belfast. lo wh(Yn we have been able to reach out and request assistance. Above all. we have established productive working connedions with th& Baltybeen ¢ommunty. Funding and Sub£roup's There were 8 funding streams utilised during this period. which enabled us to engage in many activities and events 2022-23. During this period 20 SubroUp meetin9$ were also hekl inclLKling: x8 Sports Hub cornmtttee x4 Heatth and Wellbeing x1 Policy and Praclice x1 Finance and Personnel x1 Greenway Focus Group Conversations 5 PSNI SurgerES Achiévements To Date -Cullural learning took place for Ihe Pride of Baftybeen Band thanks to the Good Relations funding. The Good Relations Project included the education of young people via museums. history days and a residential. -The CO-MENT programme took place in BIG'S office space lo host an outside progrdmrne to learn skills for life, employment, support. and digital equiprnenL -ukraine Appeal took place which invofved collecting clothes and goods to be sent lo Ukraine as a result of the war that had broken out at the lime. -BIG hosted a good practi¢e visit for Ihe 8AND project (Build Advocate Nurture Develop). for members to learn about the array of Servi5. support & activities available within the communty. -Rangerfs Academy took place and was a successful evenl with SO young people in attendance. -The Juty Family Fun Day was a successful event with 1000 in attendance. ongstone Beacon Proie¢l took place as an inttiative for the 12th and for young people, along with a firework display.

Golng Forward Our Cornmunty Development Officer has recentty carried oui a community suw to best understand the needs of the communty ft)r rnoving foard. The findings Contributed to a better understanding of Baltybeen's eight grassroots issues. These key issues include. Educational Attainment Housing Rights - Anti-social 8ehaviour Policing - Communty Participation - Cost of Living - Banned Substsn - Dog Fouling Having a better understanding of these problems will eftable us lo focus our practice on meeting community needs even rnore successfully. moving forward, Financlal revlew The charit$ incoming resources totalled £70,832 for the year ended 31 March 2023 with corresponding expendtlure of £64,647 producing a surplus for the year of £6.185. At the year end, the Chari$ feseNes amounted to £36.058 of which £28,765 unrestri¢teé.
