Four Legged Friends Charity No 100750

Chairperson’s Report_5 April 2024 to 5 April 2025

In the Financial Year to April 2025 the Charity helped the local community in need with food for their animals, and help with individual pet spaying. Injections, pet care and minor treatments.

During the year with worsening major health & safety issues and faults in the building and a reluctant landlord not repairing the faults and ignoring our complaints the Committee decided we would move to the first suitable vacant premises regardless of the expense to ourselves.

We found our current premises and with the help ofthe volunteers, and local tradespersons fitting out the new premises we were able to move before Christmas, where we have traded and assisted the Community since. Although the new premises are smaller with less storage we have managed to utilise all space to the customer and to our own advantage.

Two volunteers after gaining retail experience with ourselves managed to find either part or full-time employment in the area. One Foreign National volunteered with us during the year to improve their English language and meet local people. We also engaged with the local College Duke of Edinburgh Scheme in voluntary work for two pupils helping them gain their award in Voluntary work.

We continue to work with a bank of Volunteers without whose help and that of the recycling donations from the public and of course our customers we would not be able to help those in need of pet care.

Local recyclers collect books and metal products unfit for resale. All electrical items donated are PAT tested enabling us to recycle many electrical items for resale. Broken or unsafe items are collected for waste recycling.
