Activities
The Association is established to relieve poverty and to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the area surrounding Grove Park in Belfast and its environs of Lower North Belfast (the area of benefit) by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants and in particular: (a) to encourage and support the provision, maintenance and improvement of the Grove Park and other public amenities within the area of benefit and in co-operation with the Belfast City Council, encourage public use of Grove Park as a local amenity for leisure, sporting and other activities. (b) to promote and organise a program of community events and activities at Grove Park, and elsewhere within the area of benefit including those involving dance, music and events of a cultural nature (c) to educate the public about the local history of the area and hold history related events, workshops and information sessions and develop a local history archive for the public benefit (d) to promote public safety and encourage measures to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour within Grove Park and the surrounding area and develop projects which promote good community relations and improved inter-generational relationships between older and younger people (e) to facilitate the greater involvement of marginalised sections of the community in the life of the community and encourage participation in public consultations about the re-development of the local area and its public amenities.
