Activities

The purposes are stated at clause 3 of the Constitution of Brownstown Owners and Tenants Association. The Association is established to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Brownstown area and its environs of Portadown by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants and in particular: • to maintain and manage a community centre in the area of benefit for activities promoted by the Association; • to support the development of a cohesive, shared and integrated community and promote the wellbeing of those living inthe area of benefit through the provision of educational, social and recreational activities; • to relieve those in need by reason of youth, age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage by providing them with information, representation, and advocacy with issues such as housing, community safety, the environment and community relations.
