FRIENDS OF OAKFIELD SCHOOL Page 2 Trustee Report for the Year Ended 31 st August 2023 In 2022-23, Friends of Oakfield Juniof School IFOOJS) raised £22,079 and donated £9,0411o the school. Funds at 3181 August 2023 slo¢Jd at £38,453. Donations to the school increased signrficanlly from the PTevious year as large projects were undertaken.. £4.140 towards replacement of the wooden gazebo in the top playground and £798 towards development of 8 disused part of the sile into a wildlife pond area to enhance the environment and enable further outdoor learning. Both of these projects have outstanding reimbursements to be made lo the school of £6,210 for the gazebo and £1.283 for the wildlife pond, which will be made in the 2023-24 financial year. There is an additional £2.056 remaining from the wildlife pond fundraising effort lo develop the area further by providing class sealing and more planting. It is hoped that this will be completed in the current sch¢X•l year. Smaller donations lo the school included class planners,. lablel eompulers. music equipment.. books and other paper tearning resources-, and Ireals for the children al special events such as Christmas, Easter and the end of the school year. A full breakdown of these donations is available on page 5. The FOOJS committee and the wider school community were very busy over the year organising fundraising events. Three large events took place.. £8,414 faised from the return of the fireworks event. last held in 2019. This was the most successful evenl lo dale exceeding the previous highest gain by more than £2,500. Preparations are well Unden￿aY for the 2023 event with the provider already secured at the 2022 fate and main sponsors already ag￿ed. £959 raised from a spring colour run. £1.472 raised from the annLsal summer fair. Numerous smaller eventswere organised forthe children's enjoyment. Following Iheir inception in 2021-22, eight Friday after school workshops were provided, raising a lolal of £1.069. Two school discos raised a total of £1,284., a break-Ihe- rules day raised £413.. and the children's Christmas gift designs raised a further £385. Funds were also raised from annual activities and inilialives including small lotteries., selling refreshments.. secondhand uniform sales,. textile recycling and the much loved Halloween pumpkin display on show lo the WKler Felcham community. FOOJS also attended the Felch8m Festival event with a games 8ts11 raising £141. This year a total of £3,950 wa5 raised in grants from local. external organisations, namely.. £500 from Tesco, Leatherhead. towards the new gazebo. £500 from Felcham Residents Association towards lh& wildlife pond and matched with £500 from FOOJS. £1.000 from Surrey County Council towards the wildlife pond. £1.500 from the Thomas Flack Fund. administered by Mole Valley District Council. towards the wildlife area. £350 from Swan Cenlre. Lealherhead, arising from their Quids for Kids inilialive. £100 from the Leatherhead Lions after their attendance al the FOOJS summer fair. In addition to these gfanls, further cash contributions were received from l(xal businesses to sponsor, atterbd and adv8rtise al FOOJS evenls.. £1,660 towards the 2022 fireworks evenl, including £l.000 sponsorship from Cunningham Eves and £500 Irom V&H Homes for estate agent boards. £250 towards the wildlife pond. £360 towards the summer fair. Other businesses donated: Piizes for the two raffles and one silent auction that were run during the year and raised a total of £1,760. Thgif lime and expertise to pul on Friday after school workshops for the Children. FOOJS would like lo sincerely thank all of these buslnesses and external organisations for Iheir generosity and continuing support of Oakfield Junior School.
