BAGLAN BOYS & GIRLS CLUB

Trustees Report for Period 2020- 2021

The clubs use continues to be maximised with schools and colleges using the facilities during the day with a number of local cricket, football and rugby clubs training during evening hours.

Club membership continues to grow, enabling the club to provide teams at all ages in the local junior and mini football leagues.

The girls football teams membership continues to grow and with it brings more volunteers. The seniors ladies team continues to represent the club and is going from strength to strength. Large numbers of young girls continue to be involved with netball.

The club continues in the recruitment of volunteers/coaches to ensure the facilities use is maximised and teams can continue to function in the various leagues they play in. All volunteers are fully vetted under the DBS process and are trained to at least the minimum standard of basic coaching badges, first aid courses and child welfare. Volunteers within the club continue to grow and we encourage further volunteers get involved, thus ensuring the club can continue for many years.

The committee are delighted with the progress of completing the FAW Welfare Policy and our target of silver badge status has been achieved.

Football training camps continued in the school holidays with our association with the FAW/McDonald’s Grassroots Football Scheme.

West Glamorgan Cricket and Baglan Cricket are using our indoor nets as their training centre for their seniors and youth players during the winter and throughout the summer the outdoor pitches are used by the Baglan cricket team

We received three Covid 19 grants totaling £35,000 which will help keep the club functional despite having to close for long periods during 2020/2021.

In spite of ever increasing energy prices, insurance costs and club maintenance costs, the overall financial situation remains positive and the aim for 2021/2022 is to continue the clubs growth by fully utilizing the clubs facilities and continue with the growing girls football section of the club.

The club is looking to invest in some major repair and upgrades to the clubs facilities over the next few years which will help to ensure the club will continue for many years to come.

The balance at 31[st] March 2021 is £55,603.12.

The trustees continue to give their full support to the management committee members.
