With no AGM in 2023, accounts are presented for the 2 years, ending February 2023 and 2024.

The trading year 2024 represents the first full year of trade post-pandemic with no significant external support in the form of Grants, with 2023 supported by a Local Authority Grant of £9900 (reported as revenue).

Whilst both years show net losses, this reflects the ongoing expense of hall maintenance and improvement. The significant expenditure noted, represented by

Looking at 2023, a trading loss of £2146 (profit of £8k excluding one-off expenditure) reflects strong revenue, with a Local Authority grant the most significant part (£9.9k) coupled with a return to normal use. Expenditure was also high with a number of costs relating to

returning full use (including some new signage, replacement doors and some carpets). The 2023 accounts also show unrealistically high electricity costs which is reflected in very low cost in 2024 as credit was utilised.

2024 represents a full year of trading with a net loss reported of £3174 (£6948 profit excluding one-off expenditure) which is helped by almost no electricity cost.

Bank balance at the end of year of £12,254 remains above £5k minimum cash holding set by the Committee. However, with further significant works in the pipeline and constant need for maintenance, close attention will need to be kept on cash reserves.

Two other items to note, firstly, with enormous thanks to Iain Inglis for his relentless pursuit of funding, a new grant has been confirmed of circa £20k towards the ongoing patio development. Secondly, whilst the Village Hall is recorded in the balance sheet as an asset (arguably under-valued), clarity of ownership continues to be sought with ongoing dialogue with Charities Commission and Land Registry.
