Summary ofthe main
achievemerds
ofthe charity
during the year
The main achievements
ofthe year were the survival,
re-opening
and
further improvement
ofthe Village Hall during an unprecedented
pandemic.
Throughout
the period ofcovid resbicMns, we stayed on top ofall routine
maintenance
and safety matters,
and as groups started to return to the
Hall, the deaner and hall manager
continued athorough
cleaning
regime
to ensure that it remained
covid-secure
and was asafe place for their
activities.
The mtum to full use was a stow process, which was aided by
the incentive ofa 50percent reduction
in hire charges,
but by the end of
the year most hall users had returned
to something
close to their normal
usage.
Despite the restrictions,
we continued
our programme
ofimprovements
to
the fabric ofthe Hall.
lhasa included the installation
ofa sound system
and hearing
loop, the replacement
ofthe side curtains
in the main hall,
and the creation ofa ramp at the rear Rre exit Ws also embarked
upon
a
new five-year pkiin, to help us to continue the process ofidentifying
and
commissioning
further improvements.
Mef statement ofthe The pandemic
emphasised
the Hall's vulnerability
to uninsurable
events
and the difficulty ofsecuring the return ofregular hirers following their
charfty's policy on reserves forced and prolonged absence. VIth no guarantee
offurther government
support
in the event ofafurther forced closure, the Trustees consider
it
prudent to maintain
reserves equivahnt
to 12months ofpre-lockdown
(current) expenditum
(221,000). Our current commitment
to fund
improvements
tothe Hall, and ongoing maintenance
requirements,
have
necessitated
the holding ofsigniTicantly
more than this amount at
resent.
