M J Wheatley Chairman A Buckley Vice Chairman I Beckett D Harvey Appointment effective from 20[th] October 2022 D Hill Appointment effective from 20[th] October 2022
Secretary J Farnsworth (Resigned September 2022)
The licensed operations and finances were run and organised by the Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary. The licensed operations were severely affected by the COVID epidemic and were closed for parts of the year. The staff were all paid from the government grants.
The takings from the licensed operations were not recovering to pre COVID levels and there was an excess of expenditure over income. The licensed operations ceased in September 2022 due to excessive debts and falling receipts. The Chairman and Vice Chairman did not wish to continue to support the charitable activities and these were supported by the other Trustees.
The accounts and report were not completed within the Charity Commission guidelines as there were no available funds to pay accountancy fees. The records for this year were returned by the Secretary in September 2022. It has been difficult for volunteers to deal with these due to incomplete records, inaccurate recording and anomalies. Funds were not available to pay accountancy fees and the accounts have been prepared by volunteers to whom the charity is most grateful. The Independent Examiner has also undertaken their professional duties in support of the Charity and we would like to thank them for their support.
The Charitable activities were limited due to the impact of COVID. The Brass Band continued their activities along with the Pigeon Club, WI and U3A and limited use from other local groups. These groups have supported their members and the wider community with their cultural activities.
Yours faithfully
I Beckett
Chairman Shirland Miners Welfare
