Trustees during the year:

Objectives and Activities

The Red House School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) exists to support and enhance the educational experience of all pupils at Red House School. Our work is guided by three core objectives:

1. Organising Fundraising and Community Events

A central aim of the PTA is to organise inclusive, enjoyable, and purposeful events that bring together pupils, families, staff, and the wider community. Through a variety of well-attended events, such as a Welcome BBQ, Fireworks Display, quiz nights, seasonal celebrations, Summer Fete, and raffles, we raise valuable funds while also fostering a sense of belonging and shared purpose within the school community. These events not only generate financial support for enrichment projects but also create joyful memories for pupils and their families.

2. Providing Additional Resources and Enrichment Opportunities

The PTA is committed to funding items and experiences that lie outside of the school’s core budget, but which significantly enhance pupils’ educational journey. In the past year, the PTA has funded a range of initiatives, from classroom resources and creative workshops to playground equipment and seasonal treats, all aimed at enriching the curriculum, promoting wellbeing, and supporting holistic development. These contributions are made in close consultation with school leadership to ensure they reflect current priorities and have lasting value.

3. Strengthening Relationships Between School, Parents, and the Wider Community

The PTA serves as a vital link between parents and the school, offering a platform for collaboration, communication, and shared celebration. By encouraging parental involvement and creating opportunities for dialogue, the PTA contributes to a welcoming and inclusive school culture. We also work to engage local businesses and organisations, strengthening community ties and promoting goodwill beyond the school gates.

In all that we do, the PTA remains dedicated to its charitable purpose: to advance the education of pupils at Red House School by providing both practical support and a vibrant, engaged parent community.

Achievements and Performance

During the 2023 /2024 financial year, the PTA raised £28,151 through a range of charitable events and donations, including:

Funds raised helped to support the following:

Feedback from staff and parents has been overwhelmingly positive, and attendance at events increased from the previous year.

Financial Review

The total gross income was £28,151 with total expenditure of £20,059 leaving a surplus of £8,091

The PTA holds reserves of £32,606 which will be used for upcoming projects including… welcome BBQ, Christmas events, ice creams for pupils at end of summer term, easter eggs, selection boxes for pupils at Christmas, prom night for year 11 pupils and food/drinks for firework night, summer fete etc

All funds are held in a PTA-designated bank account managed by the Treasurer.

Structure, Governance and Management

Red House School PTA is governed by a written constitution adopted by the school for many years in the schools 92 year history.

The charity is run by elected trustees, with elections held annually at the AGM. Trustees meet at least once every half term and liaise closely with school leadership.

Public Benefit Statement

The Trustees confirm that they have complied with their duty under section 17(5) of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission.
