Activities

The Trust is the guardian of the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield. Since its refurbishment in 1990 the Lyceum has played a significant role among the most prestigious touring theatres in the major English cities. Welcoming a broad range of professional touring drama, dance, music theatre and opera companies, the Lyceum is also the home each year to several local operatic societies.

Objects: (i) To Promote, Maintain, Improve And Advance Public Education, Particularly By The Production Of Educational Plays And The Encouragement Of The Arts, Including The Arts Of Drama Mime, Dance, Singing And Music And To Formulate, Prepare And Establish Schemes Therefore, Provided That Nothing Contained In The Memorandum Shall Be Deemed To Authorise Or Permit The Property Of The Company Nor The Income Therefore Nor Any Part Of Such Property Or Income To Be Applied Or Used For Any Object Or Purpose Which Is Not Exclusively Charitable (ii) To Acquire, Preserve, Restore And Maintain For The Benefit Of The Public The Building Of Historic And Architectural Interest Situate In Sheffield Known As 'the Lyceum Theatre', Which Building Is Also A Building Of Considerable Touristic Interest.
