Election of Trustees
Trustees are elected by members at the Annual General Meeting. Additionally, Trustees may be appointed mid-term to fill any vacancies which arise. The board met only once in 2021 due to Covid regulations, to discuss the accounts and running of the Charity.
Activities & Objectives
To promote and encourage adults of all abilities to come together on equal terms to achieve complete inclusion within the wider community by promoting and encouraging independence and self-esteem in all members through interaction in the wider community, social events, educational events and among themselves through self-esteem building projects and arts and crafts.
To provide a safe, clean area for rent by the local and wider community and businesses.
Achievements & Performance
Achievements for the year 2021 were very limited due to the COVID 19 virus and subsequent lockdown measures in place. During the year we did manage to secure additional income from renting out space in the building which we lease from the local Council to UCQ which was intended to be an ongoing lease for one Saturday each month. However, this was cut to just one meeting due to the laws on vehicle licence categories being changed as the whole course revolved around B&E training. We also secured a lease with Ingeus for 1 year with the intention of this maybe being a on-going lease if demand for the service was high enough. Ingeus are a subsidiary of the Probation Service and use the building as a drop-in/training/meeting room. Due to the complex issues involved and the rules and regulations surrounding ex-prisoners and the public, it was agreed that they would have sole occupation of the building Monday-Friday 9am5pm. We also were awarded various Grants from Government and local Authority to cover running costs for our Community Centre due to the pandemic – these were way above our ‘normal’ income for the year and have significantly increased our turnover for this period. It is intended that this extra income will be used to upgrade the equipment and inside the building which will benefit both our Phab members and hopefully encourage more people to be able to attend
our social events and use the Community Centre. It is hoped that the two offices upstairs can be modified, decorated and then rented out.
