Rotary Monmouth Rotary Club of Monmouth Charity Trust Fund Trustees, Annual Report For the perlod from July 1st 2023 to June 30th 2024 Charlty reglstration number: 515576 Objectives and Activities ObJertlves: The Charities principal activities delivered through Rotary Monmouth and the Rotary Monmouth Community Champions were consistent with the aims of Rotary International and Included serrfice within the community, fundraising for local, national and International charities and organisations including those providing disaster relief. Artlvltles: Primarily by award of Grants to other Charitable or not for profit entittes and by service in the community and supporting local efforts to improve the quality of life supported by fundraising activltles Including a sponsored Walk, Monmouth Raft Race, An annual bonflre and flreworks dlsplay and street collections In making these grants and delivering service Trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. Addltlonal Inforniatlon- All tlme involved In organlslng, preparing and holdin8 fundrai51n8 artlvltles and volunteer time for community activities is unpaid. Costs may be incurred for speclflc services or purchases needed to support the events. Rotary Monmouth Trustees aim to distribute funds raised by Rotary Monmouth to agreed beneficiaries or to fund charitable artivities in accordance with budgets a8reed at the beginning of each Rotary Year, there is a preference to support or8anisations. Our policy Is to spend around 30% of avallable funds on International humanitarian support. Rotary Monmouth also supports Youth Activlties wlth opportunities to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership course and the World Affairs Seminar as well as organising entry to the annual Rotary Youth Competitions. The Charity received grants specifically in connection with the Drinking Fountains Project and as installation 15 dependent on external factors these sums are held for more than one year. These event5, grants from Monmouth Town Council, donations from Rotarians and approprlate Glft Aid raised £55,430 Expenditure was £81206, This was spent on installing a water fountain in Agincourt Square, Monmouth, donations to St David's Hospice, Newport, Velindre Breast Cancer Research, supporting a school for bllnd children In E8yPt, donations to the Rotary Club of Ramallah in Occupied Palestine. A Community Draw was or8anised in conjunction with the Rotary Clubs of Aber8avenny and Ross on Wye under a licence from Monmouthshire County Council, The Draw assists small local community groups to raise funds for their activities. Costs of the Draw are met by the sponsorin8 Rotary Clubs. Rotary Monmouth also supported many local and other charities as detailed in our financial report Financial Review The Charity makes grants from money raised during the year. The Charity holds a £3000 reser4e a831nst expenditures on events that may not cover their costs due to weather or other unforeseen eventualitles. The event most at risk is Bonfire nlght which has a flxed cost for flreworks ordered ahead of the event. The Water Fountains project received grants in previous years carried forward and was completed with the installation of a fountain in Agincourt Square. Grants had also been received for renovation of the Victoria Jubilee fountain in St Thomas's Square Monmouth in prlor years which were repaid, wlth one exceptlon carried forward to the 2024-25 financial year, wlth the failure of a lottery grant application. Income and expenditure in respect to the Raft Race and the Walk the Wye events occurs over more than one year for each event as does expenditure for the Community Draw Project. Structure, Governance and Management The Charity is governed in accordance with the Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland IRIBI) Club Model Constitution. It is re8lStered as a Trust with the Charity Commission. Trustees are Elected by Club members at an Annual General Meeting or Special General Meeting. Rotary Monrnouth Is an Independent entity but is a part of the RIBI network of Rotary Clubs. RIBI in turn is part of the global Rotary International Network. Rotary Monmouth adheres to the risk management and other policies of RIBI. Presldent, Presldent elect, Treasurer and Secretary are elected annually at a Speclal General Meeting. Trustees are typically either current or recent holders of these positions and are also elected by the Club members. I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (Yhe Trust") for the year ended 3 Dj 6'&,110 l+ As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act"). Responsibilities and basis of report I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145{5){b) of the Act. Independent I have completed my examination.
