This year, the club has undertaken a variety ofevents designed to give the members a degree ofexperience in ruralindustries which might help them to |

| find future employment. The subsoiling marathon taught each member the |
|||||
| basic operation ofheavy tractor machinery and stockjudging gives them an |
|||||
| appreciation ofthe work undertaken by livestock farmers. |
|||||
| Some members practiced organisational skills in organising and hosting the |
|||||
| Harrogate District Rally, an event which brings together a number of local clubs. |
|||||
| Those who did not participate in its organisation took part in the day' s |
|||||
| activities, practicing rural skills such as crafts, metalwork, cookery, stockjudging, |
|||||
| clay shooting and sports. |
|||||
| The club's Tractor Run Committee ensured the club as a whole was involved |
in | ||||
| the organisation of Britain's largest tractor run, which annually raises in the |
|||||
| region ofF20,000for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and provides a spectacle and |
|||||
| often a carnival atmosphere for the local communities it passes through, |
|||||
| culminating in an event on the Showground at Pateley Bridge which stimulates |
|||||
| focal tourism by drawing huge crowds to the town in the off-peak season. |
