Summary
ofthe main
achievements
ofthe charity
during the year
This year, the club has undertaken
a variety ofevents designed to give the
members
a degree ofexperience
in ruralindustries
which
might help them to
find future employment.
The subsoiling
marathon
taught each member the
basic operation ofheavy tractor machinery
and stockjudging
gives them an
appreciation
ofthe work undertaken
by livestock farmers.
Some members
practiced organisational
skills
in organising
and hosting the
Harrogate
District Rally, an event which brings together a number
of local clubs.
Those who did not participate
in its organisation
took part in the day' s
activities, practicing
rural skills such as crafts, metalwork,
cookery, stockjudging,
clay shooting
and sports.
The club's Tractor Run Committee
ensured the club as a whole was involved
in
the organisation
of Britain's largest tractor run, which annually
raises in the
region ofF20,000for the Yorkshire
Air Ambulance
and provides
a spectacle and
often a carnival atmosphere
for the local communities
it passes through,
culminating
in an event on the Showground
at Pateley Bridge which stimulates
focal tourism
by drawing
huge crowds to the town
in the off-peak season.
Brief statement ofthe
charity's policy on reserves The charity's
policy on reserves
isto generate
and maintain
a reserve which
will
allow sufficient funds to:
maintain
the financial
viability ofthe Charity
in the event ofunforeseen
and/or
unavoidable
circumstance
that brings a short-term
fall in its
income;
to permit the Charity,
in the interests of meeting
its charitable
objectives,
to from time to time establish
a new and innovative
project on a project
