Trustees’ Annual Report 2020

The year got off to a ‘normal’ start which is more than can be said for the rest of the year!

Our small scale production went on in November2019, a staging of ‘Allo Allo’ for four nights in a local Church Hall (capacity 100) and was sold out every night. Late Autumn also saw rehearsals for the January pantomime and auditions for the main show of the year in June taking place.

The pantomime in January was ‘Dick Whittington and His Cat’. A total of 1658 people attended and we can claim both an artistic and financial success. As always we had several parties who attended at concessionary rates including 102 from the Hosannah House and Children’s Pilgrimage Trust and 100 from the Downs Syndrome Supporters Group. At the pantomime this year for the first time we provided a BSL signing at one performance.

Our main show for 2020 was to be ‘Barnum’ but as rehearsals were just starting so was the ‘Lockdown’ and attendant restrictions.

Rehearsing was impossible. Contact was made with the Rights Holders and with the Local Authority which resulted in our being allowed to postpone ‘Barnum’ until June 2021.

There really was no meaningful activity thereafter apart from monthly Zoom meetings of the Executive Committee and regular inspections of the Society’s premises to ensure that all was well. The Executive Committee decided to postpone the Annual General Meeting.

Members were advised of any matters by Newsletter. Lack of activity meant lack of income and our Treasurer has worked unceasingly in pursuit of grants (see Balance Sheet).

We look forward to a resumption of ‘normal’ activities.

The Trustees declare that they have approved the Trustees’ report above
