WE DISCOVER, WE GROW www.girlguidingwestyorkshiresouth.org.uk ANNUAL REPORT Girlguiding West Yorkshire South 2021 Every year seems to bring newchallenges and 2021 was no different, so a big'thank you. to all our volunteers for staying with usand adapting to the changTng circumstances toensure that girls continued to enjoyGuiding. For the second year running. we have not b￿n able to provide the same level of activrties for the girls, as we Would have liked. but at a local level units have worked hard to keep girls engaged. At the start of the year, Guiding activities remaTned wrtual but as restrittTOllS relaxed, by the summer unTts began holding outdoor meetings and gradually began to retum to indoor meetTngs, although some experienced dTfficulties and had to find new meeting places. Some units also began to go on camps and residentials and it began to feel that normality was returning. It Was particularty encouraging to see 50 many girls put themselves forward for selection forthe2023 World Scout Jambor& Tn Korea. WE DISCOVER, WE GROW We had hoped to have begun plans for re-opening Wysholme, our resTdential centre, but thi5 has had to be delayeddue toan incidentcausing STgnTficant structural damage. Girlguiding Overall membership has reduced and there has had to be some restructuring within the County, with Agbrigg DivisTon beroming a distritt Within Pennine East Diwsion. STmilarlysome divtsions are also looking to restructure internally and have closed/amalgamated unTts where necessary. On a more POSTtTve note. as unTts have retumed to normal activitTes, numbers are beginning topick up. West Yorkshire South As a county we have focu5e(l on ensuring that we continue to prowde all the necessary traTning to enable our volunteers to provide good qualTty, safe GuidTng activities. For m05t of the year. mandatory First Response and Safe Space trainings contTnued to be delivered VTrtually at Region level, wrth the County providTng the practical element of First Response. Then in October, we wereable to hold our first face to face trainTngs starting wrth two FTfst Response trainings. followed by the CountyTraTning day. We werealso able togo ahead ￿th the residentTal CwntyTrainTng Weekend at Waddow- which was well supportedand enjoyed by those taking part. activitTes in our County. Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The Association's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The Association considers that an audit is not required for this year (under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the 1993 Act) and that an independent examination is required.

It is my responsibility to:

Basis of independent examiner's report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Association and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

Independent examiner's report
