| All members of the Committee are trustees of the charity. Nominations for election to the Committee may be made by any Member of the Association and seconded by another. Committee members are elected at the AGM and hold office until the next AGM. Committee members have the power to co-opt other Committee Members at any time, and co-opted Committee Members shall serve until the date of the next AGM. |
Objectives and activities
Charitable purposes The PTA aims to advance the education of students in the school, in particular by: - Developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school - Engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils Summary of the main activities The PTA’s main activity is to raise funds which are passed on to the undertaken by the charity to further school to support and benefit pupils. its charitable purposes for the public benefit Our main fundraising activities are social events held at the school (quizzes, Burns Night supper and one-off events), raffles and used uniform sales. The school requests funds through a bid process and bids are approved if they meet our charitable objectives of supporting pupils and enhancing their education.

Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the financial period
Main fundraising achievements:

Three quizzes raised a total of £4000

Donations at the school music concerts raised over £700 to fund support for music students

Christmas and Summer Raffles together raised over £1800

Used uniform sales raised over £4300

A new Wine Tasting event raised £300

The Burns Night Supper raised over £9500 for the PE department
Funding provided to school:

Paid for the annual visit by “The Owl Man” as part of Y7 science lessons

Purchased summer reading books for all new Y7 students

Financial review
Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves
The PTA needs reserves for the following reasons:

To ensure that the PTA has sufficient working capital to carry out its day to day activities;

To protect again significant fluctuations in income;

To provide the funds required to wind-up the business in the event that the PTA as a charity was no longer a going concern.
The PTA Committee has agreed the following target reserves levels:

Minimum “general” reserves equivalent to 18 months operating costs

Plus “additional” reserves in the event of there being significant unforeseen fluctuations in annual income levels

Independent Examiner’s Report to the trustees of Harrogate Grammar School PTA
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Harrogate Grammar School PTA (the Trust) for the year ended 31[st] July 2023.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner’s statement
attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

Accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or

The accounts do not accord with those records
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
