Prin¢1 al Activi and Taxation Status The principal activity of the Charity for the year under review was that of being a registered social landlord. The charity is registered under number 508014, and has a tax ex¢mpt status. Trustees The Trustees during the year were: Capt G K Thomson Capt M Eglon Mr E Matthew Capt S Pringle Mr D R Millar Statement of Trustees RtS onsRbilities Housing Association and Charity legislation require Trustees to prepare Financial Accounts for each fancial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Charity as at the end of the financial year and of the surplus or deficit for that period. In preparin¥ the F2nancial Accounts, suitable accounting policies have been adopted and consistently applied, to the best of the Trustees, knowledge and belief, by reference to reasonable and prudent judgements and estimates. Applicable accounting standards have been followed. The Trustees are responsible for maintaining adequate accounting records, for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and for pr¢venting and detecting fiaud and other irregularities. Respective Responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner As described on page I th¢ Charity's Trust¢es are responsible for the preparation of Financial Accounts. It is our responsibility to examine the accounls under section 145 of the Charities Act, to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act) and state any particular matters that have come to our attention. Basis of indep¢nd¢nt examiner's statement Our examination was carried out in accordance with general Direclions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideraÉion of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees conceming any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts piesent a 'true and fair, view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. A¢¢ountin Policies The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the statement of recommended PTactic¢ for social landlords. HousRng Properties Housing properties are stated at valuation, see note 6. Tangible Fixed Assets Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to llrite off each asset over its estimated use1 life.. FixtUTes and Fittings 10 % on net book value Housing Properties Not depreciated The company has a policy and practice of regular maintenance and repair of housing properties. so that their value does not diminish over time. The tnteeS consider that the renIning usefill economic lives of the housing properties are in excess of 50 years, and that any depreciation charge would not have a material impact on the financial statements. Cash Flow Statement The Charity has taken advantage of the exemption provided by Financial Reporting Standard l and has not prepar¢d a C&sh Flow Statement for the Year.
