Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | The 2022/23 season commenced with performances of Vaughan Williams’ Sea Symphony and Delius’ Sea Drift, in pursuance of the Society’s established objectives of bringing less well-known works to public attention. Following the usual December presentation of Messiah in December, the Society performed Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius for its Spring Concert. Additionally, after the end of the season, it ran a well-attended workshop for the general public on Verdi’s Requiem to encourage participation by singers who would not necessarily feel confident in auditioning for formal Choral concerts, continuing a successful tradition established in recent years. This has also helped to broaden the Society’s membership and is in line with our Charitable Objectives. 30 Chorus members participated in the Three Choirs Festival in July 2023 in Gloucester, which brings music to a wide cross section of people. |
