performances of Vaughan Williams’ Sea
Symphony and Delius’ Sea Drift, in
pursuance of the Society’s established
objectives of bringing less well-known
works to public attention. Following the
usual December presentation of Messiah in
December, the Society performed Elgar’s
Dream of Gerontius for its Spring Concert.
Additionally, after the end of the season, it
ran a well-attended workshop for the
general public on Verdi’s Requiem to
encourage participation by singers who
would not necessarily feel confident in
auditioning for formal Choral concerts,
continuing a successful tradition
established in recent years. This has also
helped to broaden the Society’s
membership and is in line with our
Charitable Objectives.
30 Chorus members participated in the
Three Choirs Festival in July 2023 in
Gloucester, which brings music to a wide
cross section of people.|

As the Charity's Trustees. you are responsible for the preparation of the
accounts. You consider that the audit requirement of Section 43(2) of the Charilies
Act 1993 {'The Act") does not apply. It is my responsibility to state on lh¢ basis of
procedures specified in ihe General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners
under Section 43(7b) of the Act whether particular matters have come to my attention.

My examination was caLed out in accordance with the General Directions given by
Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records
kept by the charity and a comparison of th¢ a¢counts presented with those r¢cords. It
also includes consideralion of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and the
seeking of explanations from you as Trustees conceTning any such Matter. The
procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an
audit and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the views given by the
accounts.
