The charity has elected an executive committee and trustees. There is regular general meeting for members to attend and monthly meetings of the executive committee. Elections are normally every 2 years. Next election will be in spring 2025

The charity also has membership of the joint partnership forum with the other four Sikh Temples in Manchester. Where we discuss best practice for the local Sikh community and collaboration on common matters.

There is also regular Trustee meetings where matters relating Risk and the wellbeing of our congregation are considered, as well as general operational matters.

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

We have extended or involvement in many community projects including:

Collaborations with these organisations has helped raise awareness both for our members and the multi divers community. With significant sharing of views and approaches to support the community.

The Sunday school has been very successful, and has now been extended with a week day evening class.

We are also now running Sunday classes for the Harmonium and Tabla.

The Nagar Kirtan (Processions through Manchester) which include the other 4 Sikh Temples in Manchester was run again and was a great success.

We had 35 different schools visit to the temple as part of the schools. curriculum on awareness of other faiths. We have also started to visit schools to carry out Sikh awareness classes.

Key projects have been the upgrade of our IT infrastructure, kitchen stoves and utensils, improved security, redecoration and fire alarm system upgrade.

The elected committee are keen to continue with the maintenance program and Brief statement of the modernisation of the infrastructure. To this end, the structured spending charity’s policy on reserves introduced in the previous year has been continued with reserves being reduced to £50,000.

The charity is mainly funded from donations. Without these donations much of the running and maintenance costs could not be achieved. These donations have been key in providing the much needed modernisation of the Temple and daily running costs.

Grant applicants are being considered to help support the urgently needed extensions to accommodate the needs of the community.

The temple has been struggling to find a suitable priest with the necessary skills to conduct the various religious activities. The committee are now considering priests from outside the UK. We are making an application for an overseas licence to allow us to recruit a priest from India with the necessary knowledge and skills. This was halted last year due to covid.
