The main function of the committee is to coordinate fundraising activities to support the upkeep and maintenance of the Group Headquarters in order that Scouting and Guiding has a base from which to operate within the Bedale area.
The Scout and Guide Groups operate in line with their respective umbrella organisations.
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
Our prime focus is to raise sufficient funds towards the cost of replacing our store building, which is dilapidated and beyond repair. We plan to take this opportunity to not only update the unit in terms of storage, but also in terms of accessibility and welfare provision for the local community.
Our current building is over 63 years old and is showing its age. It is used to store our activity equipment including trailers, kayaks, open boats, paddle boards, alter fires, pioneering poles and lots more. All the equipment stored is used to provide exiting and inclusive experiences for all members of our organisation.
Activities revolve around fundraising, our main event being the Bedale Festival, which we organise on an annual basis, and seeking donations and grants.
Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)
We are extremely grateful to those who support the committee through their time or expertise. However, our greatest thanks go to those leaders and volunteers who willingly give their time to enable Scouting and Guiding to continue to flourish in the Bedale area.
You may choose to include further statements, where relevant, about:
To date we have secured our future on the site following the purchase of our equipment store (the old fire station) which we used to rent from the diocese, and had planning permission approved for the new community building.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the trustees of Bedale Scout Group.
I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31[st] July 2021
Respective responsibilities of the trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44 (1) (C) of the Act and to state whether matters come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and the comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of unusual items and disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
Independent examiner’s statement
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention
-
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:a. to keep accounting records in accordance with section 44 (1) (a) of the 2005 Act and regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations.
-
b. to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations.
have not been met or
- to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
