Lilford District Scout Council Financial Report 2023-24 Overview 2023-24 again saw an actrve year wf(hin the District. Changes to the governance structure were introduced because of the Charities Commission regulations update and widerscout Association developments. Distr Ict AccouritS Income was £4,791.47 lowerthan in 2023. Whilst capttation saw a modest increase of £3,087.50due to Increasing census numbers, we also had the dosures of 151 Astley and Lowton Explorers contributing to the coff ers.Althoughthesefundsarewelcome,theymustbe protected to cover any potential future costs. The District HQ has again seen significant expendlture in repairs and improvements. The continuing work Is pldir) fur %)11 to see who visit. Thank you to the team ably led by David Copeland for all your hard work in maintaining our wonderful building. Overall, the District had a surplus of £l.LX) for 2023-24. Some will also notice that the buildin8 has also been revalued to £7CXJ,I￿. This has been long overdue and In part was tomrnissioned because of thegovernance change5. Insurance policies have been updated to reflect the new valuation. ScoLIt Shop The shop continued to contribLrte to the Distrirt funds. Sales were £423 down on the previous year but the overall surplus was £1,402.85. Having supported the District contingentto South Korea during the year, the fund is Still healthy with new adventures belng planned. District Adult Lead Volunteer Report 2023-24 Lilford Di5trirt is a great district and I do not say that lightly. This is totally due to the dedication and commitment of our leaders, helpers and trustees who week in week out, year in year out strive to give the best possible Scouting experience to the young people in their charge. It often goes unrecorded and unrewarded but you should a51 take personal satisfaction in a job well done. There is no need for me to reiterate what has already been said in the settion lead volunteer reports other than it is great to see two new Squirrel Dreys up and running with another to follow. This 15 particularly good news at a time when districts are seeing long established sections and groups closin8, hopefully this will reverse the trend of a lack of volunteers to help our young people on their Scoutin8journey. Scoutin8 in Lilford is holding its own. This years Census recorded that the District had 596 members however each week l am receiving email enquiries from parents wanting a place for their child. all of which is great new5 and bode5 well for the fvture, we just need those leaders I All I can say to you, as I have done at the last nine AGM'S is for you to keep dolng what you are doing, providing quality scouting within our District. We can only hope that more adults wi51 get involved and give up that "hour, every week I Again I would like to thank the District Trustees for all the hard work they put in. David and Pam Copeland for their continued support and who make life so much easier for us all. Thanks also to JP for the work put in on the accounts and to Marjorie Marsden for her continued support in running the scout shop. To the members of the Appointments Advisory Committee, Sophie and Mel. To Shane and the rest of the Group Lead Volunteers thank you. I stated last year that big changes were afoot, well they are here now and over the next 12 months we will be implementing a lot of these changes from the operating system we use to an upgraded safeguarding policy and to how we run our District and groups. It is daunting but we are more than up to the task. We will have a new County Lead Volunteer shortly and hopefully they will lead us to greater heights. In all likelihood thi5 will be my final report as a DC. I can honestly say that it has been the highest honour to lead such a dedicated and selfless group of people. Little did l imagine 53 years ago when starting my scouting journey that I would end up leading my Distritt. ADC Squlrrel AGM report 2024. Over the past year, the squirrels in the Lilford Distrirt have shown significant growth and enthusiasm, rnarked by the establishment of two new dreys. The introduction of scouting to Younger individuals in Lilford has been met with great excitement. Recruitment for scouts has been strong, although attratting new leaders has been a slower process. Nonetheless, the outlook for the coming year remains positive. 18th Leigh have gone from strength to strength this past year, they have joined the whole group on a sleepover at Dunham Park, been to see a pantomime, as well as several trips to Charlie Park. During the sessions they have all been workin8 hard toward their'Golden Acorn, award. The sessions have been engaging and filled with diverse activities, fosterin8 Strong bonds among the young participants, turnin8 strangers into lifelong scouting friends. The 2nd Atherton Squirrel Drey was successfully launched in January 2024 with three new leaders, including one who is entirely new to scoutin& supported by an experienced leader, Nikki. Initially, the drey is limited to 12 members to facilitate manageable intakes over the first two years and then seasonal. The next major intake is scheduled for September, and there is already a waiting list in preparation. The squirrels are mostly invested and actively working through their two-year program towards the 'Golden Acorn, award. They participated in a 'Drey Day, at Waddecar in June, which was filled with numefOUS activities, markin8 a promising start for the new drey. The 9th & 15th Leigh drey opened at the end of June, featuring initial session5 With games designed to help young participants (YP} get acquainted with each other and their leaders. There have also been discussions about their favorite activities and how these can be transformed into badges. Young Leaders We are happy to report a significant increase in Young Leaders volunteering in Beavers across tlie District. Cubs Section Report 2023-2024 Duringthe past year, it has been my pleasure to see the packs continue to offer experiences and opportunities to the young people of Lilford District. Whilst most packs have grown in size, volunteer recruitment and retention have remained an issue. This year has seen Cubs from Lilford take part in numerous events and attivities, both distritt and County. Cu b Mudder was well attended by packs frorn Lilford with teams from 1st Lowton, 1st Atherton, 2nd Atherton, 9th &15th Leigh, and 18th Leigh taking part. 1st Lowton IBI claimed the highest placing of our teams by taking 6th place. The district cooking competition was won by 13th Leigh, who went on to represent us at the County competition, winning 1st placel Once again, thank you, it was my pleasure to take YP from Lilford to the Inter-district Chess Competition held at 5th Urmston. All played well and 5UPPOrted one another fantastically. Pick Of The Packs was well attended and won, again, by 5th Tyldesley. l am sure that all would agree that both attendance and competition had increased, so a good win indeed! The County Water Activities Days were fantastic fun as always and it was great to see packs from 1st Lowton, 2nd Atherton, and 9th & 15th Leigh enjoying the time on the water. At all of the Distritt and County events attended our Cubs were a credit to themselves, groups, and Lilford. It was a150 my privilege to accept an invitation to present Chief Scout Awards to YP from 1st Atherton this year. It has been another fantastic year for CSAS within our packs and l am hopefvl that an event will take place in recognition of this. in lieu of the cancelled Celebration of Excellence. I would like to thank all the volunteers who have given their time and energy to planning and running sessions, enabling YP to attend the extra events, and coming along to the Cubs Leaders, meetings. Without the enthusiasm and efforts of the dedicated volunteers, none of this would be possible. Lisa Woodger

Scout Section Report Andy Foster- ADC Scouts We saw another successful yearof scouting within groups and at county level with several groups taking part In county competitions and events. For the coming year we have already held a fishing competltion and are plannlng a JOTA in Octoberfor the first time in a few years. Wlth changes coming in we wlll be looking at how we can best support the Scout section and look forward to any input those section leaders can provide to make a successful year SCOUTS fAGMre hTr Another excitin8 year in Lilford District for our young people! All the way from the beavers skills day to some of our leaders 80ing to Windsor and the Palace to receive their top awards, it has been fantastic. The young leader unit IS Still thriving and there are lots of our young people wanting to continue their 5COUting journey which is great. Looking forward to another exciting year with the young people of Lilford distritt.

LTM AGM Report 2023124 Some leaders havegained theirwood badge in the past 12 months, although there arestill some issues with Compass not triggering the alerts of Personal Learnins Plan IPLP) cornpletion. This has been escalated to the County Training Manager. There have been some suspensions as leaders whose safety and safeguarding learning have expired. This is something Gilwell has been tightening up on; leaders are starting to receive rerninders alerting leaders to expiry dates. $0 hopefully this will help reduce the number of suspensions in future. 1° Response (Level l) We've run several courses during the past year at Lilford HQ Many thanks to Peter Blundell for his help with this. Andy Keyworth has volunteered to be a trainer $0 this helps us deliver local courses. If 5t you are interested in being a l Asd trainer please let me know. You need to hold a valid Level 3 type l Aid course eg First Aid at Work or similar, and the appropriate trainer skills. We will be running further courses from September. GSL'S should encourage leaders to check when their learning needs renewing and nominate them for courses. si If there are new leaders, and they have not done I response, please let me know as this isn't always picked up by the Compass reports. NB If your I" response certificate lapses, this rnay also lead to suspension until it is renewed. How do you know what tralnlng Is needed? Many of the adult learning rnodules can be cornpleted online on the Scout Association's website. However, the learning needs to be validated ie show that you can put it into practice. This needs discussion with your Training Adviser ITA) about what is required and how this can be done. Details can be found in the Adults Personal File. External courses and prior learning can also be taken into account for your training, butyou need to discuss this with your TA.
