Chairman’s Report A G M 7Th December 2021
Good evening ladies and gentleman I would like to take this Opportunity to welcome you all to the Crowle Community Hall A G M. It’s been a very difficult year to say the least.
The pandemic has caused all sorts of problems in many ways to everyone and my thoughts go out to all those who have suffered with their health and to those that have lost loved ones.
But on a lighter note the restrictions put in place by the government have meant that the Hall could be closed in order to carry out essential work to repair the water leak and carry out major refurbishment of the Hall,so you could say that the pandemic had a beneficial hand in that.
The Hall has gone through a transformation in the last year, with new floors ,new kitchen, upgraded bar area and a complete redecoration.
I believe the Hall has been brought up to the 21st century and we can be justly proud of what we have achieved.
Whilst our insurance has contributed to a large extent towards the cost. we were fortunate to receive government grants via North Lincs Council which meant that we didn’t need to delve to much into our reserve.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Julie Reed in pointing us in the right direction and helping us secure the much needed funding,it was much appreciated so thank you Julie.
Earlier in the year we lost a valued member of our community Gwen Parkin who worked tirelessly to raise funds for various charities. She was also a valued member of this committee and worked hard over many years raising funds and helping to organise concerts and indeed could be seen many a time on stage in various guises.
It is testament to those early committee members with their enthusiasm and drive that we find ourselves in the fortunate position we are in today. And now to some thanks.
I would like to thank Jack for his commitment and hard work over the last year in the thankless task of communicating with the insurance company,I’m sure at times he must of thought he was banging his head against a brick wall.,also his time and effort in organising the building work to bring everything to fruition to what we have today a hall to be proud of.
So I thank you Jack for that.
Now I come to Haley, another one who goes that extra mile in everything she does, and through out the year she has kept everyone informed as to when the hall would be available for hire and that has reflected in the high number of new and existing organisations wanting to book the venue.
Now with her other hat on whilst the work was in progress she was itching to get in the hall to get it spick and span ,and as soon she got the go ahead along with Darren the mops were out ,the hover was doing overtime ,the windows cleaned the paintwork wiped down ,the kitchen given a complete
Haley workout ,every where looking pristine and new.,and then I waited for those dreaded words ,and sure enough out they came ,wipe your feet at the door , don’t leave finger marks ,leave the kitchen as you find it ,take your rubbish home and so it when on so everyone take heed be afraid be very afraid .Keep up the
good work Haley and Darren it’s much appreciated.
I would like to thank Alan for his continued support as secretary and Jack again his roll as treasurer.
Lastly but by no means least I would like to thank you the committee for your support throughout the year ,without you all this would not be possible and also welcome Clare And Mo our new members ,here’s to a busy 2022. I wish you all a Marry Christmas and hope everyone has a healthy new year.
