TRUSTEES' REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30TH JUNE 2023

Trustees

Susan Maguire Past President Nicholas Morse Secretary Peter Smith Treasurer

Basis of Report and Accounts

The Trustees have pleasure in presenting their report together with the financial statements of the Charity for the year ended 30th June 2023.

Principal Activities

The fund was established by a trust deed dated 4th June 1970.

The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and in particular to encourage and foster:

First the development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service; Second high ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

Third the application of the ideals of service by every Rotarian to his personal, business and community life; and Fourth the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

In achieving these objects the members carry out fund-raising and service projects in order to provide assistance to local, national and international causes.

As a registered Charity the fund is not liable to taxation.

Risk Management

The Trustees have reviewed the risks facing the Charity, which has involved identifying the type of risk and the means of mitigating those risks. Internal controls and systems have been established accordingly.

Reserves Policy

The Trustees consider the level of reserves required should be sufficient to ensure the charity is able to maintain the historic level of ongoing service for the foreseeable future . Significant surpluses should be reviewed by the Trustees in conjunction with the Council of the Rotary Club and may be distributed ad hoc.

Unless the Club otherwise resolves, not less than twenty per cent of funds raised during any year should go to causes deemed international as agreed by the Council of the Club.

Responsibility of the Trustees

The Charity Act requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year, which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity at the year end and of its income and expenditure for the year then ended. In preparing the financial statements the Trustees are required to select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently, making judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent. The Trustees must also prepare the financial statements on an ongoing concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue its accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity and enable them to ensure that the activities. The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records, which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011.
