This may k acl)ieved by the drilling of wells, the building of d￿n$. th¢ provision of storage tanks or any other ineans. Wilmslow Wells for Afri'ca raises funds through donations and the efforts of a working committee. The provision of clean drinking water proinotes publi¢ healih ben¢fits and supports sustainable coinmunities in some of the poorest areas of the world. Operation of the charity Projects are undertaken either directly with communities in Africa, often through local churches, or through other aid organisations who have identified a water-relat¢d need. Money is only committed to projects by the Trustees when funds have been rats¢d. Nornially the running costs associated with wells, including inaintenance, are the responsibility of the local community. Funds are raised by a coinmittee which plans a programme of events th￿ughoUt the year. Monies are held mainly in an interest-bearing account pending projects being approved by the Trustees. Wilmslow Wells for AfricA - Registered Charity No. 328330 Summary of Wilmslow Well$ activities 2024 was a milestone for Wilmslow Wells marking the 40 year since its forn)ation by Brenda Mottershead in the mid-1980s. Froin this inspired beginning and on account of the sustained support of generations of fainilies, coinmiinity organisations and chiirches, the Charity has raised a total of £1.707,253 over this time, bringing new or upgraded water facilities to nearly 700.000 people. Some 340 projects have been successfully coinplet¢d, the details of which are available on our website. wilinslowwells.org. The Charity is volunteer-run and operat¢s on a l¢an costbase. Its operating costs over 40 years lJav¢ IK¢ii £13,131. leavii)g £1,694,122 {99.2O/0 of funds raised) available for ils charitable objectsves. Of this £1,678,501 (99.00/0) has been spent on ov¢r 340 projects. The impact of this effort has been to improve the health, physical security, education and economy of ihe coinmunities involved. The funds that have not yet be¢n ex￿nded reflect the time it takes to ideJ]tify and evaluate projects. We gather infonnation on projects, ensure they appear to be properly researched as to cost and feasibility, have appropriate ongoing maintenance arrangements in place and satisfy ourselves that they represent reasonabl¢ valu¢ in t¢nns of th¢ number of people helped. We re¢¢iv¢ reports on th¢ progress and coinpletion of projects. to provide ¢vid¢nc¢ that the funds were iised appropriately and to enable us to monitor th¢ project against the proposal. Activities during the year: During the current year the total income amounted to £83,11 I, details of which are set out in the attached accounts. We ar¢ supported by a diverse range of individuals, organisations and volunteers and are ¢nonnously grateful for all their contributions. Our Gardens Day was again highly successful. In addition to both our Souperdays, which were well supported. our Souperday team provided lunch at the Barnby Open Sin￿ng Day. Th¢ bridge drive was also Tcpeated. We sold Christmas cards via the Wilmslow Charity Christmas Card Shop and tea towels and other textile goods were also available for sale. A significant feature of the year was th¢ Wells Challenge for which a number of intrepid cyclists and other travell¢rs completed a journey of 210 Iniles froin Wtlmslow to Wells Cathedral, rasing £20,456 in sponsorship.

IA Wilmslow Wells for Africa- Registered Charity Iyo. 328330 Upon invitation from the Barnby Choir, the Charity attended their suinm¢r concert to Celebrate its 40 year history and raise funds by providing r¢freshments. The Charity's new booklet recording its history was unveiled to a warni receptton. All these activities maintained our profile and highlighted the enonnous need for water in Africa. We also inaintained our presence on Facebook. We have worked to introduce acceptance of credit cards to facilitate sales of tickets for our evenst via QR codes and card machines. As a result of all thesc efforts this year, we inanaged to g¢n¢rat¢ a high l¢v¢l of inwn¢ from fundraising ¢v¢nts and donalions. Expenditure during the period wnounted to £92,599 which includ¢d £91.376 on 23 projects in 4 ¢ow)tries. Our declsions to support projects are based on cost. numbers of people helped. the severity of the iieed and the viability of th¢ project. Detailed reports on the projects are included in our regular n¢wsl¢tters, available through the website. Since the year-end we hav¢ donat¢d a furth¢r £21,398 towards 5 more projects and we are at th¢ evaluation stage with a number of other proposals. All work carried out for t]ie Charity is on a voluntary basis and there are no paid ¢inployees.
