the provision of watcr for hwnan eonsuinption wid irrigation. This may k acl)ieved by the
drilling of wells, the building of d￿n$. th¢ provision of storage tanks or any other ineans.
Wilmslow Wells for Afri'ca raises funds through donations and the efforts of a working
committee. The provision of clean drinking water proinotes publi¢ healih ben¢fits and
supports sustainable coinmunities in some of the poorest areas of the world.
Operation of the charity
Projects are undertaken either directly with communities in Africa, often through local
churches, or through other aid organisations who have identified a water-relat¢d need. Money
is only committed to projects by the Trustees when funds have been rats¢d. Nornially the
running costs associated with wells, including inaintenance, are the responsibility of the local
community. Funds are raised by a coinmittee which plans a programme of events th￿ughoUt
the year. Monies are held mainly in an interest-bearing account pending projects being
approved by the Trustees.
The Trustees confim) that they have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity
Commission's general guidance on publi¢ benefit when reviewing the charity's objectives and
in approving projects for support.
