The lease is tenant repainng (for 8 £1 premium and a peppercom rent) and wrth a service charge The property can only be used as a place for Scouting Activities and a ¢ommLrnrty centre wrth class D1 of the use of classes ordèr. Th8 Trustees have Compl th8 Charity Commission requirements on the disposal of land. The valuation provided in August 2015 of the market value of the leasehold interest of the Scouts accomMlatl was of order of £1.5 million. The Distnct receivèd net proceeds of £282,865, part of which was to cover rental of accommodation until Ihe new premises are ready, a contribution towards rfit cos1$ and surv6yors monitoring costs and ser charge payments for future years, The remainder of the fuTrJs from the sale are for investment to permrt scouts.ng to continue on a strong footing in swark for the foreseeable fLrture. The District continues to be thankfvl for the work of Paul Wootton bho undertakes much of the day to day work of running Scout House.
Scouts Waylands Campshe, Westerham The 2021 camping season suffered as a result of the coronavirus pandemic so there was limrted camping at the srte After camping events became possible again from July 2021 we started to see more bookings taknng place and bookings We d05e to nornal by end of March 2022. As a result of the I0(dn the Distn'ct has been able to daim Local Restncbjns Support Grants and Omicron Grants from Bromley Council. The Distnct continues to be thankfvl for the Work our Warden assisted by Brian Lodge for tasks that requi more than one set of hands Our thank6 also go lo all the Committee. Achievements and Perfonnance Flnancial Support to Group• As part of the function of supporting Scouling in Southwark the District financially supports Scout Groups where needed. In th18 financial year we agreed a loan arrangement to one group, to cover a polenlial Gash ftow issue. The loan was not taken up, bul provided securty to the group at a crtical time The District Ihanks the Distnct Treasurer for h8r work in supporting Treasur8rs of each Scout Group to Submit suitable accounts, and In drawing their attention to financial support available from the Scout A8so¢iation and other Sources. Scouts Face lo face Scout weekly meetings, Distnct Events arvj County Events were abk to restart in Awil 2021 until Dernber 2021 and then start again in February 2022 While fa¢e to face meetings were not available our Scout Groups and Explorer Units moved to the digrtal world for meetings Most groups held Zoom meetings covenng a range of activities including crafts and cooking. A¢Xivty packs were sent out and young people camped at home. Our le*r5 kept in touckn wrth the young ppIe and gave them Scouting in new ways. In the periods when lothdown was lffted there was a welcome return lo In person Scouting but planning was complicated by uncertainty around possible future mle changes which made for a slt)wer comeback for camps and events. However, around 70 Scouts took part in a Night Hike in Odobw 2021, arKI 11 Nights Away evants were held in the spnng of 2022. The census in January 2022 showed a welcome 25% growth In youth membership nuMt9 relatNe to January 2021 as members retumed to In-rson scouting. We thank all th8 leaders in thè district for adapts'ng to the situation and continuing to 5UPPOrt our young people in very djfficult srtuaticfis. Our Explorer Scouts are encouraged to enrol for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards arKI Queens Scout Award and Iraining for expedrtions conts'nued. Young Leaders have continued lo participate in the District Young Leader training with training day In May 2021 followed by more events in Decemb8r 2021 and January 2022 As at 31 January 2022 ttwe were 33 Young Leadars oFwating in 8 of the 14 groups in the District. 2 ywng16aders' belts were compteted in the year ended 31 March 2022 Scout Notwork Thè Scout Network was rather dom)ant during the pandemic and immedte aftemath but we expect to see much more actr¥ity in 2021-22.
