The Swimming Association could not
Para 1.38 operate without support from the
Contribution made by community and the considerable
volunteers effort made by our volunteers. It is
run entirely on a voluntary basis and
as such, no person receives any
payment for the hours spent working
at the pool or behind the scenes. This
is what has enabled the facility to
operate successfully at the heart of
the village for 54 years. Most of our
regular volunteers have been helping
for years and some of our older
members have been volunteering
since the PSA was founded! We have
also been able to offer voluntary
experience to 3 young people
undertaking their Duke of Edinburgh
Awards. The total number of regular
volunteers is approx.44 with
additional Ad hoc help provided by
members if required. We would like to
thank all our volunteers whose
contribution is invaluable to keeping
the pool running.

in demand which led to some
members being unable to book their

and introduced booking rules and
proactively monitored cancelations to
ensure that our members had fair
access to the pool during this period.
We also successfully introduced our
new membership system, ‘Join IT’ to
help coordinate our booking system
with the membership database. The
swimming pool continues provides
much needed physical, mental and
social benefit to the community,
particularly to our older members and
parents of young families who use the
facility to meet up with friends. We

support some top-level athletes in
Underwater pool hockey and Triathlon
by providing much needed training
time.
