STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

Risk management

There is some uncertainty as to how long the older sections of roofing will last. Replacement would involve significant cost.

Other areas of the building are being inspected periodically to ensure they are maintained to a good standard. Work is currently required on the back window frames and some soffits. Also some trees require some ivy to be removed in order to keep them healthy.

Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.

Tangible fixed assets

Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life.

Stocks

Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items.

Taxation

The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities.

Fund accounting

General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the charity and which have not been designated for other purposes.

Designated funds comprise unrestricted funds that have been set aside by the trustees for particular purposes. The aim and use of each designated fund is set out in the notes to the financial statements.
