cJrnD LAKENHEATH PLAYING FIELD ASSOCIATION Trustees Report.. 2021-22

Trustees Report: 2021-22

Lakenheath Playing Field Association is a registered charity (#304908), operating in Lakenheath, Suffolk. We are responsibile for the operation and upkeep of two large playing fields, Lakenheath Pavilion, and other facilities such as a multi-use games arena, and skate park.

2021-22 saw most COVID19 restrictions lifted across England, which meant for us our main source of income for the charity, hiring out Lakenheath Pavilion, was able to fully function again. Since the end of restrictions, we have received many bookings for the function hall, and also organised many events ourselves as a commitee. These events include our new and successful “Party on the Pitch” event, the return of Lakenheath Fete after a break in 2020 due to COVID19, live music events, and more.

As an organisation, most of our financial outgoings consist of: business rates, waste removal, electricity/ utilities, building maintenance, grass maintenance, outdoor hard landscaping, equipment maintenance, bar stock, and staffing (both bar and cleaning).

To cover the costs of these outgoings, our income is mostly built from: regular hiring agreements, such as from the local Cricket/Football clubs, Lakenheath Little Fishes, etc; one-off hall hires for events/bookings; bar takings; and fundraising from our own events. Throughout 2020-21, we received financial support from various government grants, as well as the Bounce Back Loan scheme.

As a commitee, we hold regular meetings to discuss future plans and projects of the Lakenheath Playing Field Association. Our commitee currently consists of seven commitee members. Three of our commitee members are Trustees: Kevin Watts, Tracy Whitehand, and George Plumb. Our Chairperson is currently Kevin Watts; Vice Chairperson, Tracy Whitehand; Secretary, George Plumb; and Treasurer Graham Lodge.

Looking forward to the rest of 2022 and beyond, we are hoping to have some “outdoor gym” equipment installed on-site, in partnership with the Lakenheath Neighbourhood Planning Group. Additionally, we have many events to come, including events for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and more.

The LPFA is an established and vibrant charity which, though facing recent challenges through COVID19, the recent loss of our Chairperson, and rising costs, has continued to be financially stable. We trustees are confident of the continued success of our charity and our “modus operandi” of providing a much needed facility for the village of Lakenheath.
