It has been another
difficult and frustrating
year.
The concern throughout
the year has been the expected increase
in the
costs ofoperating
the Hall. Electricity is the only form of power in the Hall
and, therefore,
with the increase
in tariffs our main concern is how these
increases can be managed.
The Committee
has
spent the year looking at
ways to reduce this cost as follows;
1) The installation
ofsolar panels.
2)
Changing
all light fittings to LED fittings.
3) Reducing usage
Unfortunately,
to add to our problems
our Insurers
insisted that
recommendations
highlighted
in the 5-Year Electrical Report completed
in 2021 had to be earned out. The system when installed
in 1993,when
the Hall was built, complied
with the regulations
at that time but do not
meet present requirements.
The total cost of installing
solar panels, changing
the lights to LED fittings
and carrying
out the 5-Year Report works was estimated
to bef40,000
which would use up all our present funds. We are, therefore,
looking for
grants to cover some of these costs.
However,
despite the above-mentioned
problems
there have been some
achievements
during the year as follows;
1) The former Parish Office was refurbished and subsequently
hired
out.
2) The defibrillator
sited on the front ofthe Village Hall is now fully
operational.
3) The exterior ofthe Hall has been repainted
and the Perspex
in the
front door has been replaced.
4) The Small Steps Pre-School licence has been renewed
for a
further two years.
5) The window
in the Lord Perry Hall which
was broken has been
replaced.
6) 6 Monthly
reviews ofthe fire alarm systems were carried out.
7)
A 'special clean' ofthe building was carried out.
