1[st] Sunningdale Scout Group (Charity Number 300514) Treasurer’s report (01/03/2022 – 28/02/2023)

If one examines the accounts over the past few years, one will observe that broadly the end of year cash balance has remained largely stable at just over £30,000. The year to end Feb 2021 the cash balance grew somewhat to £45,000, to Feb 2022, £76,000 and this year, thanks to a huge continued huge raising effort for the New Hut our overall cash balance now stands at just shy of £95,000. All sections have a healthy balance.

This year the accounts show a profit of under £18,000. This was largely driven by bike sales of over £3,000, quiz night at around £6,000 and other donations totalling around £9,000.

As at the end February 2023, the New Hut Fund stood at just under £60,000; this was just over £42,000 at the same time last year.

We continue to be prudent with funds as we have always been, ensuring that events like camps and activity costs are matched with income from attendees, whilst keeping the minibus running efficiently and making sure we have good deals on insurance, utilities and other costs. We also maintain a £12,000 “emergency” fund, such figures are included in the above totals, which means we could run the Group expenses for a year without any income.
