financialstatementsof the charityfor the year ended 31 March2022.The trusteeshave adoptedthe provisionsof Accounting and
Reportingby Charities:Statementof RecommendedPracticeapplicableto charitiespreparing their accountsin accordancewith the
Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Mission Statement
Our missionis to ensure that food,drinks and other essentialsuppliesare providedto homelesspeopleas well as othersin need in
BristolCity centre,every night of the year. We also aim to signposthomelesspeople to accommodationand other support services
to ensure they are given the help they need to break the cycle of homelessness.
2021-22 Report
ThisreportcoversApril2021toMarch2022.Wecontinuetooperatea dailysouprunduringthisperiod,seeinganaverageof 40
people each night and giving out over 15,000 food portions over the year.
During2021and 2022,we havecontinuedto implementour COVIDriskassessmentand safetypoliciesto ensurethe safetyof our
volunteersand also thosethat we serve.Our policycontinuationhas specificallyincludedprovisionof PPE,if desiredby volunteers
(masks,gloves)andhygieneproducts(handwash,gel,spray)tosupportsafepreparationanddistributionoffoodand drink
products.We havealsoensuredtrainingto ourteamleadersand theirteamson socialdistancingand howto ensuresafe delivery
of our services to our clients.
We have continuedto engage and collaboratethrough social media platformswith other homelessnesscharitiesin Bristol to ensure
transparencyacrossBristolontheservicesofferedtopeopleinneed.Thishashelpedbettersignpostingtootherservicesfor our
clientsand has promotedcommunicationwithinthe groupsinvolvedin providingthese services.We continueto operatea storage
unit, which we use to distribute essential supplies to our teams.
Public benefit
We providebenefitto the publicthroughthe provisionof food,drinksand otheressentialsuppliesfor homelesspeopleand others
in need.
Thetrusteesconfirmtheyhavecompliedwiththerequirementsofsection4oftheCharitiesAct2011tohavedueregardto the
public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
Volunteers
Operatingthedailysouprun,combinedwiththelogisticsofprocuring,preparingandservingover15,000foodportionsover the
courseoftheyearhasonlybeenpossiblethankstothehardworkofourarmyofvolunteers.Wearereliantonourteams of
volunteerswhogooutontothestreetsofBristoleverynightoftheyeartoundertakethesouprun.Withoutthese wonderful
volunteers,our workwouldnot be possible.We wouldlike to take this opportunityto thankour talentedand dedicatedteams for
everything they do to help those in need in Bristol; we are so proud of them.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Toensurewecontinuetooperateadailysouprun,wehavepartneredwithanumberofvolunteerorganisations(mostly local
churches,butalsoindependentteams)whooperateeachdailysouprun.As theumbrellacharity,wehaveimplementeda rota to
coordinatetheactivitiesoftheseteams.Togovernthecharity,andtopromoteconsistencyofservicedelivery,we have
implemented a Code of Practice for volunteer teams, outlining the rules for safely operating a soup run.
Each team generallyoperatesin the same way; they prepare foodand hot drinks,whichthey will then distributeat two designated
points,atthesametimeofevening,inthecitycentre.Eachteamisexpectedtoreportbackviaasocialmediaplatform,with a
summaryoftheevening'sactivity,includingnumbersofpeoplefed,tofacilitateplanningforthenextnight'steam.Eachteam is
responsible for the recruitment and induction of all volunteers, including a health and safety briefing to all new volunteers.
Weexpectteamleaderstoensurethatanyvolunteersupportingasouprunalsosignsaformtoconfirmtheyhaveread and
understoodtheCodeofPracticebeforetheyparticipate.Teamleadersarealsoresponsiblefororderingfoodanddrinkfor each
run, and for submitting receipts for reimbursement to the Bristol Soup Run Trust.
Weundertakecharitablefundraisingactivitiesinordertofundtheprovisionofsuppliesforeachsouprun.Weoperatea central
storagefacilityinordertoprovideaccesstoessentialsuppliessuchascoldweatherclothing,sleepingbagsandambient food
products. We facilitate communication between each team and link with other charities working with homeless people in Bristol.
During2022wewereabletocollaboratewithoneotherhomelessnesscharity,HelpBristolHomeless,tocontinuetobuild our
reach and connectionswith organizationsacross Bristol.This included making a charitabledonationof £20,000to their organization
towardsthe provisionof a housingunit (a convertedshipping container).Help BristolHomelesshave also supplied us with hot food
in the latter part of 2022 to support food provision for our teams on a Saturday evening.
We have decided to continuethe VolunteerCoordinatorrole in 2022 due to the success of the positionin organisingand supporting
our teams, and facilitatingcommunication,reportingand coordinationbetween each group. Key responsibilitiesof this role include:
respondingtogeneralenquiries;developingpositivelinkswithlocalbusinessesandlocalauthorityrepresentativesormembers of
the public; monitoringsocial media communicationsbetween teams and managing social media platformsfor the charity; collecting
or receivingdonations,maintainingcontactlists;updatingor creatingpolicies;maintainingdocumentation;liaisonwithBristol City
Council,BristolHomelessForumandotherhomelessnesscharities;attendingthesouprunswhenpossible;maintaining good
relationshipswithsouprunteamleaders;recruitment,trainingandassignmentofothervolunteerstosupportactivities.We will
continueto assess the benefit of this role, and have created a rolling one-yearcontractfor the position,currentlybased on 18 hours
per week employment.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of The Bristol Soup Run Trust ('the Company')
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 31 March 2022.
Responsibilities and basis of report
Asthecharity'strusteesoftheCompany(andalsoitsdirectorsforthepurposesofcompanylaw)youareresponsiblefor the
preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 ('the 2006 Act').
HavingsatisfiedmyselfthattheaccountsoftheCompanyarenotrequiredtobeauditedunderPart16ofthe2006Actand are
eligibleforindependentexamination,I reportin respectof my examinationof yourcharity'saccountsas carriedoutunder section
145oftheCharitiesAct2011('the2011Act').IncarryingoutmyexaminationIhavefollowedtheDirectionsgivenbythe Charity
Commission under section 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completedmy examination.I confirmthat no mattershave cometo my attentionin connectionwith the examination giving
me cause to believe:
1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Company as required by section 386 of the 2006 Act; or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or
3. the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or
4. the accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting by charities (applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)).

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES
Basis of preparing the financial statements
The financialstatementsof the charitablecompany,whichis a publicbenefitentityunderFRS 102,havebeen prepared in
accordancewith the CharitiesSORP (FRS 102) 'Accountingand Reportingby Charities:Statementof Recommended Practice
applicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccountsinaccordancewiththeFinancialReportingStandardapplicableinthe UK
andRepublicofIreland(FRS102)(effective1January2019)',FinancialReportingStandard102'TheFinancial Reporting
StandardapplicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland'andtheCompaniesAct2006.Thefinancialstatementshave been
prepared under the historical cost convention.
Income
All incomeis recognisedin the Statementof FinancialActivitiesonce the charityhas entitlementto the funds, it is probable
that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.
Expenditure
Liabilitiesare recognisedas expenditureas soon as there is a legal or constructiveobligationcommittingthe charityto that
expenditure,itisprobablethatatransferofeconomicbenefitswillberequiredinsettlementandtheamountof the
obligationcanbemeasuredreliably.Expenditureisaccountedforonanaccrualsbasisandhasbeenclassified under
headingsthataggregateallcostrelatedtothecategory.Wherecostscannotbedirectlyattributedtoparticular headings
they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.
Grantsofferedsubjecttoconditionswhichhavenotbeenmetattheyearenddatearenotedasacommitmentbut not
accrued as expenditure.
Taxation
The charity is exempt from corporation tax on its charitable activities.
Fund accounting
Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees.
Restrictedfundscanonlybeusedforparticularrestrictedpurposeswithintheobjectsofthecharity.Restrictions arise
when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.
Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the financial statements.
Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits
Thecharitablecompanyoperatesadefinedcontributionpensionscheme.Contributionspayabletothe charitable
company's pension scheme are charged to the Statement of Financial Activities in the period to which they relate.
