Shanklin Rifle and Pistol Club. Charity number 298130
The purpose of the Charity is the Training of members and qualifying non-members in the safe and responsible use of firearms and to encourage competition at Local, Regional, National, International and Olympic level.
The main activities are providing facilities, equipment, personnel and in some cases ammunition for instruction for members and other qualifying interested groups.
The Trustees always follow the Charity Commission Guidance on Public Benefit.
The Club does not make financial grants to any group or person but offers free use of facilities to appropriate groups.
The Club is managed and run by volunteers. No Officer or Trustee of the club receives any remuneration.
The Achievements of the Club for 2020 are much reduced by the Covid 19 pandemic and Government restrictions and guidance. In previous years the Club provided facilities, equipment, targets, ammunition and trained personnel to provide a target shooting and firearms safety awareness course for up to 250 Scouts over the Easter weekend but were unable to do so this year because of Covid restrictions.
However, the club was able to continue to provide free facilities and training for local Zoo staff and was able to provide free facilities and training for the new sport of Target Sprint.
The Club has also provided a defibrillator at its indoor facility site, for Community use.
It should be noted that normally the Club would be reporting for a Charity with a turnover of less than £25000 but because the Club received Covid grants we are this year in the over £25k band. Because of the grants the Club is in a very healthy financial position. However, as we have not been able to operate as usual it is possible that some members may have found other sports and hobbies. We will not know or be able to assess this until later in the year and will be carefully monitored.
The reason for holding reserves is to provide new indoor facilities. Existing facilities are too small and do not allow for much increase in membership, do not offer much in the way of disabled access and part of which is housed in a building well beyond its design parameters.
The amount of reserves held is £56476.62.
The Governing document is the Club’s Constitution and is an unincorporated association. The selection of Trustees is from the membership, by membership ballot.
