To promote, throughout Kent, the welfare of people with chronic kidney disease (CKD) including their families, friends and carers.
To provide financial support, specialist advice, guidance and access to further information and resources.

To promote and encourage research into chronic kidney disease and to fully disseminate the useful results of such research.
To raise funds and invite and receive contributions from any person or persons whomsoever by way of subscription, donation and otherwise.
To procure and provide information to the public concerning chronic kidney disease.

We provide access to 2 holiday caravans in Hastings free-of-charge to kidney patients with priority access given to dialysis patients for a week or weekend stay.

We provide welfare grants up to a maximum of £500 which kidney patients across Kent can apply for. These are often used to purchase goods and equipment that otherwise would not be available to them by other means.

We work closely with the Advocacy Officer from Kidney Care UK to access additional support for patients and families e.g. financial benefit, advice and guidance.

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

Our main achievement in 21/22 was the complete rebranding and relaunch of the charity, website and social media platforms. We’ve sourced and secured more sponsors and a local company helped sponsor Team Kent at the Transplant Games in 2022 which enabled the charity to provided branded tracksuits for the team.

We have returned to face to face patient peer support groups and include a virtual element for participants unable to attend in person.

We are utilising the KKPA vehicle a lot more to transport patients to/from renal appointments, to/from the caravans and KKPA Events.

We supported Team Kent at the Transplant Games in Leeds in 2022 and the van was used to transport the team from Maidstone to Leeds due to the rail strikes taking place over that weekend.

We attend and provide support for the Kent Kidney Care Centre at their quarterly Patient Information Days.

We celebrated 50 years since the 1st dialysis unit was created and work closely with the Alan Squirrell Trust, being the founders of the unit.

We work with other local charities and have jointly funded a fishing day with ‘Fishing Well’ who provide support for improved mental well-being.
