The Wykeham centre and church house was established by a trust deed dated 10 July 1909, which has Sin been amended by a scheme sealed by order of the Charity Commissioners of England & Wales dated 20 June 2007. Appointment of trustees, induction and training There has been an average of 3 trustees throughout the period. Any new appointments are at the recommendation of the board. The board meets on a regular basis to enact the running of the Charity. The Trustees are the incumbent of St Edwards Church Romford (while they are in-post) and the 2 Churchwardens. The Churchwardens are appointed at the Church APCM and serve for a maximum of 6 years. their appointsnents being reconfirrned every year at the APCM. All new trustees are given. in the view of the board, sufficient training and have enough knowledge of their specific field to understand the nature of the chaiity and fvlly comply with the charity's current vIeV of its progression. Objectives and activities The objects of charity are that Fts property shall be held and used for the purpose of furthering the religious and other charttable work of the church of England in the ecclesiastical parish of Romford. This includes the operation of Collier Row and Romford foodbanks. Public benefit statement The Trustees confirm that they have complij the duty in section 4 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidan on public benefit. THE WYKEHAM CENTRE AND CHURCH HOUSE Registered chartty. number 291485 Summary ofthe main achievements during the year During 2021 the Charity hosted regular Junior Church and Playgrouprroddler group meetings on behalf of St Edward's Church, and a regular youth group. Subject to COVID restrictions in for at the time. The Wykeham Centre and Church House runs a Foodbank under the Trussell Trust franchise. The Foodbank relies on donations of food and household ttems from local people and organisations in Havering who have been very generous in the last year. The Foodbank relies on a team of volunteers who help in the collection, managing and distribution of food (stock) and on average give a total of 219 hours per month, During the year there has been an increase in clients needing help and the Charity are grateful for the donation of time, goods and funds from individuals and organisations. Financial Review Financial position The charity had overall net incoming resources of £20.976 (2020 - net incoming resources £10.872). Monetary donations from the public to the foodbank in(xeased to £22.588 from £17.328 in 2020. During 2021 the charity provided food parcels through the foodbank to 2911 people. (2020 2353). The charity is kindly provided with the use of a hall at Romford Baptist Church and Ascension Church free of charge. A transfer is made from the restricted fvnd to the general furjd. of surplus foodbank funds, to contribute towards the cost of the Pr(¥ect Manager who runs the foodbanlL Reserves Policy It is the trustee's policy to maintain reserves to finan the next months expenditure. Responslbllltles and basls of report As the trustees of the chartty, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance wtth the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act.). I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in (xrrwng out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5}(b) of the Act. Independent examlner's statement I have completed my examination. I confirn that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination givtng me cause to believe that in any material respect: 1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act" or 2. the accounts do not accord with those records. Basis of preparation The financial ststements have been prepared in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 Section 133. using trie Rlpt$ and Payments basis available to small chariti&s and the charity's own Simple Accounts Spreadsheet. Receipts and payments accounts contain a summary of money received and money spent during the period and a list of assets and liabilttles at the end of the period. 2. Prior Year Adjustment To reflect the change in the fom of a(Lounts from Accruals to Receipts and Payments the comparative figures for 2020 have been reststed and accounting adjustments for prepayments and accruals made in the 2020 accounts have been reversed. The opening balance on the General fund as at 0110112020 has been adjusted to reflect these adjustments. 3. Other trading activlties Lettings income comprises of amounts received from Little Market Nursery andf After School Club and users of the Wykeham Centre and Church house. 4. Funds analysis The Foodbank fund represents accumulated donations less allowable expenses. It can only be spent on Foodbank related expenditure. This includes an amount towards the salary of the Project Manager. Gift aid claimed on restricted donations is credited to the fund to which the donation was made. Related party transactions The PCC of St Edward the Confessor is a connected chaiity which produces its own annual accounts. Donations totslling £35.01)O were made to St E(ardS PCC in the year {2020 £18,600). Part of the donation to the PCC is used to pay for the Project Manager's salary. 9.
