We have an active arKI committed management committee with 8 Trustees and 13 representatives from regular users of the Centre and the wider North Petherton communty. This collegiate membership aims to ensure the MMittee is representative of the communty it serves. Stren henin the Goveman The objects of the Charty remain unchanged, namely the Communrty Centre is a village hall for the use of the inhabitants of the parish of North Petherton. wthout distinction of political religious or other opinion including use for meeting lectures and clasges and for other fomis of recreation and leisure-time occupth'on wrth the object of improving the condth.ons of lrfe for the said inhabrtants. Having revised the values, mission and awns of our management prosseS we revised our Constiiution to update it fr(xn its original version in 1983. The draft revision was submrtted to the Charity Commission, in line with Commi&sion's guidan and was fomially approved in May 2025. Our policies have been updated and publicBed on the Communty Centre's web page and wll be reviewed annually. Achlevements In 2024125 Our Or anisational Structure and Relationshi th Related Parties The Charity is managed through an active Committee. Committee meetings continue to be held monthly and are well attended with actrve participation from all members. We have tsvo new Trustees Sin April 2024. Two long standing Trustees have stood down after many years of committed Committ service and their contributions have rnade a valuable and significant impact to the Centre's progress to date. The strength and cornrnitrnent of our committee membership is crucial to the effective rnanagement of the Centre for the benefit of the North Petherton community. We have continued our dose working relationship with the Town Council and Friends of North Petherton Library and value these partnerships. Since the last AGM meeting. we have established a closer working relationship with North Petherton Flower Show Committee and the North Petherton Church through individual members from eath of these organisations. who are now valued and active representative membets of the Communty Centre management committee.
Mana ement of the Commun. Centre's Infrastructure The Centre's roof repairs were completed in the summer of 2024 with the help of a successful grant from the HPC Community Fund which was appreciated and with match funding from the Community Centre's funds. With guKlance and adv1 from Communrty Council Somerset (CCS) we applied for funding for an Energy Audit as part of the Somerset Decarb Project This application was successful and the Energy Audit was completed in March 2025. The full report has recently arrived with the Trustees for discussion. consideration and decisions are due to tske pla at the next Committee meeting in May 2025. The aim will be to match potential effictency gains and sustainabilty improvements with affordabilty. The Centre's car park serves not only the activities of the Communty Centre but the wider Communitr¢s use of the Town's businesses. As such, car parking spaces have become increasingty busy with limited availabilty for key users of the Centre. The Committee is in the process of renewtng the guidance on accessibility to the car park, whith will be clear and easily visible to all who use the car pa. Communication of the rationale for and the process of renewal of this guidance will be managed carefully and sensitively. Communi Centre Aclivities The Communty Centre activitses for 2024r2025 have made considerable progress in meeting our vision which is: to place the North Petherton Communty Centre at the heart of the (x)rnmunty, providing a suslainable. and accessible space that is valued and supported by the people of our town. and our mission which is: to promote, enable and facilitate incluslve actr¥itFes, which embra and address the education, social, cultural and recreational needs of the Noth Petherton Communities. The committee continues to monitor all requests for use of the Centre against these principles. The Centre hosts a wide variety of activitEs for all ages. interests and serVIS and the Trustees vlCome any further ideas and suggestions from individuals wiihin the local community. The Produce arKI Makers Market at the Communty Centre which takes Pla on the third Sunday every month is now estsblished and is proving popular with the local
communty. After much consideration and in line with our stated values. the Committee agreed to host the North Petherton Communty Larder. which was forynalty launched in February 2025. The North Petherton Community Larder (NPCL) aims to reduce food vrdste by prowding a Spa availabFe to all membe[5 of the local comrnunty to collect and share surplus fresh and non-pertshable food. It is Working well and we encourage everyone to Use it. In partnership with the North Petherton Town Counctl, we arranged for the North Petherton Youth Club to move from their location in the Church Rooms at North Petherton to the Main Hall at the Communty Centre January 2025. The Youth Club now meets every Tuesday evening. under the supervision of a qualified and experienced Youth Worker. The Youth Club is managed by the Town Council and the Committee will have a regular update from the Council on progress. The decision to provide a regular pattem of film shows has proved to be susSfUl. with 'a balanced mix of adult and family frused films. The showing of the famity films Wonka and The Polar Express were particularly successful and further family focused films are planned during the year. In Summa It has bn a busy. Satisfying and rewarding year for the North Petherton Communty Centre Committee and we will continue our intents'ons arKI ambitions to further develop the achievements and work of past and present commbttee members. So, will continue to be bold, imaginative and ambitious in our efforts to build on the amazing work that has happened at the Centre in previous yea.
