CGCA Chairman’s Report 2020-2021
As I reach the end of my first and last year as chairman my thanks go to all the committee for their hard work throughout another challenging year, as the pandemic appears to not go away, so we have to keep vigilant for all our residents to keep them all safe.
The Village Hall
The exterior works to the walls have been completely re-pointed and partly rebuilt. You will also notice we have a new perimeter fence and gates, and inside we now have a baby changing facility. We have also installed a new hot water heater for drinks etc.
The Gallybagger
The internal works are mostly completed now and I am finishing off bits and pieces. We have started some external works to improve the area outside the fire door, shed and the access to the rear of the building. We will be looking into some disabled works to the internal and external of the building. But more about that later, as this is something for the new committee to look into. Please Note: - our AGM is on the 14[th] October at the Gallybagger at 7pm and new committee members will be very welcome.
As people will be aware we re-opened on the 24[th] of July 2021 with our opening night which was on a lovely summer evening enjoyed by all. We have also restarted the Folk Nights on the last Thursday of the month. The annual photo competition which had 60 entries was tremendous with some beautiful photos and the presentation was on 17[th] September 2021. The winning pictures are now on display. The Snooker & Billiards league has resumed after over a year’s break, and we have as requested purchased a pool table which was asked for in the village survey and is available on some opening nights.
Finally the Gallybagger will only survive as your Village Hub if it is well used by everybody. Myself and the Committee have been very pleased with the comments from people who have never been in before and have started to use it as their local, so after all the hard work and time that volunteers have given, just please enjoy it and it is a superb facility, which any village would want as it is run by local people for the community.
