CHAIRMANS REPORT A y¢ar of enforc¢d inactivity doesn't excus¢ our l(Kal politicians for maintsining their abandonment of our young people. Leadership is required to come from somewhere to show Ihe young do count and that there 15 a choice other than gangs or just wandering the streets. Unfortunately I do not see any signs of leadership in this regard. The Youth and Con)Jnunity Report shows how we have been closed down because of Covid and have been unable to continue to provide facilities for young people and SUPFX)rt the Conununity. We are still pursuing our relationship with the Croydon Sea Cadets and hoping for a beneficial outcome for both parties. General care and maintenance at Croydon is superbly done by Tracy and Tony Backshall but this year nothing at all which will cause a big buili up in things to be done when we do open. Hareswith Pond. our Nature Study and Outdoor Activity Centre at Storrington, West Sussex, was able to provide a much needed refuge for families in their 'bubbles' during the summer. regret that because of personaI circumstances I have not been able to be as involved as much as in the past year and. unfortunately. do not hold out much hope for an early improvement. Alan Homes. Pagè 3
TREASURERS REPORT The Accounts for the financial year April 2020 _ March 2021 showed a surplus of £25,653, with a closing balance of £40.457. This was the result of Covid 19 Support GrJJ]ts and staff being put on Furlougb. General Fund - shows thai there is a £21,686 Credit" against the debit of £9.010 of the previous year. This w&s ¢ntirely due to the Covid 19 Grants of £20,660 and Furlough Grants of £15,507 which offset the loss of income from leiiings due to the closure during Lockdowns durAng the year. We did have some Lettings when lockdowns were not inforced with users made resFrt)nsible for their own cleaning of Covid 19 sanitation requirements. as the amount of use w&s small and irregular generating insufficient income to re-instate staff. A¢¢ Van Hire, based a few hundred yards from the club, have agreed to hire the cary)ark when not needed and this has been the main sourc¢ of income along with Serenity SEN School and the Sea Cadets. Under the Government Covid-19 Suppor¢ Trdcy and Tony have been furloughed. until fi¢r notice. Members Fund- With no -open" youth club, the only income is from Ihe pupil referral units, using the coffec bar occasionally. The Members Fund will b¢ closed and balance tranSfe¢d to the Generafi Fund. Mini Bus Fund - having been written off by th¢ insurance company last year the fmal income of £600, for the sale of the vehicle, is shown. The Minibus Fund will be closed and balanc¢ trallsfeed to the General Fund. Storrin ton Fund - Showed a SUTplus of £3.061 being up from the previous Y,5 surplus of £2.118. This being as a result of the increase in Hiring due to Covid 19 blocking peoples usual holiday abroad. Expenditure on utilities and Tepairs increased from that of th¢ previous yeaT partially due to the increased hirtng. Again thanks are given to the various parties who donated tools. materials, time and labour, these PCTsons and companies being highlighted in both the Chaimian's and Leaders reports. We are thankful to both Croydon and Horsham Councils for th¢ Covid 19 Rate R¢li¢f resulting in no Business Rates were paid for the Croydon Old Town and Storrington premises. We would also like to thank Tom Simmonds, own¢T of All Save, who hLs provided free of charge the servicing And replacement of fire extinguishers at both Croydon and Storrington for tbe past 5 years. Helen Jones Hon. Treasurer Pagè 4
YOtrrH AND COMMUNITY REPORT 2020121 COVID 19 caused the closure of the club and the staff being pul on fiwlough for the whole of this fingllcial year. However by working 1th useT groups they were able to use the ptemises, wh¢n permitted by r¢strictions. ex¢rcising their own cleaning and sanitisation regin]es. This h¢lp¢d them cope with the difficult circumstances they found themselves in and were able to participate. in their 'bubbles'. in those activities that their membeTS waIited. STORRINGTON was used by 'family bubbles. most weekend during the summer and provided a welcome safe outdoor experience for the children after months of being locked dowi. The group of volunteers ty to keep th¢ cabin, the lake and the woods in good older but it is a mammoth task. During the year Norvin, Kirsty and myself have carried out safety checks and felled 2 ash die back trees. CO-OPERATION WITH THE COMhIUNITY AND OTHER AGENCIES BALL GAMF.S AREA was used by users when on the premixes. PUPIL REFERRAL UNrrs did nol us¢ th¢ premises during the year but have said they will start again in the next Academic Year. PILATE classes were closed. YOGA classes were closed CHILDRENS BIRTHDAY PARTIES bookings were cancelled and closed for the year. CROYDON SEA CADETS did not use the premises. CROYDON DROP tN COIYSELLING closed for the year. SOUTH CROYDOI¥4 TABLE TENNIS CLUB closed for most of the year SERENITY SEN SCHOOL opened in September and used the premises when schools were not on lo¢kdown. We have been sorry that we have not been able lo provide our usual services to the community this year. It has be¢n v¢ry strange walking up and checking the security of tbe building when it is so empty and cold in5t¢ad of its usual hive of activity. L&8tly may I thank all those that have provided support when needed during this difficult year. Tony Harris- Youth and Cotnrnunity Worker Pagè 5
