Promotes Britain's maritime industries, commerce and defence through education, training and research. In particular, sponsors Maritime Media Awards, Britain and the Sea conferences, Maritime Briefs and Memorial Book for those Lost at Sea for whom there is No Known Grave

Objects: (A) To Advance The Education Of The Public In The United Kindom's Maritime History And Traditions Through Study And Reasearch And Lectures In Schools Universities And Other Institutes Of Further Education And The Publication Of Papers Or Articles And The Review Of Maritime Books Films Video Cassettes Radio And Television Programmes And Other Publications And The Provision Of Facilities For Study And Research Including The Maintenance Of A Public Library The Data Base And To Make Grants And Awards To Persons Engaged In Connection With Such Study And Research. (B) To Advance And Promote Programmes To Encourage Young People To Take Up Maritime Careers Through The Provision Of Scholarships. (For Further Details See Clause 4 Of Trust Deed).
