The principal funding sour¢os of the Foundation ara Income received from its Investmant portfolio, and donations r8ceived from ¢harilable organisations and Individuals. Invostment poll¢y reservos The Foundation's assets are invested in accordance with the powals available to the govemors as sat out in the memorandum and articles of association. There are no restrictions on the Foundation's power lo inv8st and the investment strategy is agreed between thè governors and the investment advisors and is rtrgularfy revbewed. The governors arg seeking to secure a good income return whilst aimlng lo grow the combined capllal and income above the rate of inflation over the longer term. The current investment strategy which has begn agreed by the investment advisor and the governors, is for the funds avallable for investment lo be invested across a range of asset classes with a view lo achieving a lower level of volatility than the aquity market. The porttolio Is classified as medium risk and as such will have an exposure to gquity risk assets of around 80Yo with the balance invested in lowor volatility fixed interest investments and other 'diversifying" assets which have a low ￿rrelatiOn to equilies. The exposure lo less volatile assets wthin the portfolio helps to mitigate the risk of withdrawing capital lo supplement grants at limes of equity market weakness. The market value of the investments held al 31 December 2024 was £1,747,619 {2024: £1,647.2031. As al 31 December 2025 the investment portfolio was revaluod which generated unrgalised gains of £200,783{2024 £91,880). The governors are mindful of the necessity to maintain reserves al a level which enables them lo mako grants principally from income although a limited amount of ¢apilal will bfj used lo supplement the total grants made. In the light of this policy on ieserves the financial risk lo which the Foundation is exposed arises from the fluctuations in the value of inveslrnenls as a result of movement in the stock market. The portfolio is kept under review by the governors al their meetings. The govemors examino the major risks that the Foundation faces every financial year and have developed systems to monitor and Control these risks lo mitigate any impact they may have on the Foundation in the future. Plans for the futuro The governors intend to continue making grants lo charitable institutions for the public benefit specifically those operating in the field of benefiting people with 8 learning disability and their carers. 11 is intendod that future donations will be mad& from the annual Income of the Foundation. The governors in office wgre either appointed under the memorandum and articles of association dated 25th March 1982 or were appointed by the Foundation Board. Vacancios are filled by nomination and elected by a simple majority. The current governors are responsible for the induction of any new govemors which involves awareness of a governor's responsibilities, the goveming document, admlnistralive procedures and the history of the Foundation. A new governor would receive copies of the prevlous yearfs annual report and accounts. The Foundation maintained a part-lime secretary who assists with the vetting of grant applications, book-keeping and other administrative matters on a self employed basis. London, WC28 SAH. 1.1 AGcountlng conventlon The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention. The financi81 slalemenls have departed from the Charities (Accounts and Reportsl Regulations 2008 only to the extent roquired lo provide a true and fair view. This departure has involved following the Slatemont of Recommended Practice for charities applying FRS 102 rather than the version of the Statement of Recommended Practice which is rgferred to in the Regulations bul which has since been withdrawn. The financial slalemenls are prepared in sterling. which is the functional currency of the Foundation. Monetsry amounts in these financial ststemenls are rounded to the nearest £. Those funds are for the benefit of providing grants to organisalions and to provide small grants for individuals with learning disabilities. Reslrfcted funds are made up of donations recelved from the Bally Thomas Charitablo Fund which are then used for the funding of special projects. Restricted funds are subject to specrfic condltlons by donors as to how thoy may bo usod. The purposes and uses of the restricted funds are set out in the notes to the financial slalèmenls. 1.4 Incoming r8sour¢es Income is recognised when the Foundation is1ggally enti118d to il after any perfoTmance conditions have beon mel, the amounts can be measured reliably, and it is probable that incom& will be received.
