The Trustees present their report and financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2022.
Theaccountshavebeenpreparedinaccordancewiththeaccountingpoliciessetoutinnote1to the
accountsandcomplywiththeTrust'scharitabletrustdeed,theCharitiesAct2011and"Accounting and
ReportingbyCharities:StatementofRecommendedPracticeapplicabletocharitiespreparing their
accountsinaccordancewiththeFinancialReportingStandardapplicableintheUkandRepublicof Ireland
(FRS 102)" (as amended for accounting periods commencing from 1 January 2016).
Objectives and activities
Objectives and aims
The Trust's objects are the provision of funds for the education of underachieving dyslexic individuals.
Public benefit
The Trustees have paid due regard to guidanceissued by the CharityCommissionin decidingwhat activities
the trust should undertake.
Achievements and performance
Charitable activities
Duringthe yearthe Trusteesdid not makeany grants.Thiswas due to problemswithaccessto its banking
facilities. These issues have been resolved post year-end and grant making activities have resumed in 2023.
Financial review
The surplus for the year is £7,204 consisting of bank interest received.
It is the policyof the Trust that unrestrictedfunds which have not been designatedfor a specificuse should
bemaintainedatalevelequivalenttobetweenthreeandsixmonth'sexpenditure.TheTrustees consider
that reservesat thislevelwillensurethat, in the eventof a significantdrop in funding,theywillbe able to
continue the Trust's current activitieswhileconsiderationis givento ways in which additionalfunds may be
raised. This level of reserves has been maintained throughout the year.
The Trusteeshave assessedthe major risksto which the Trust is exposed,and are satisfiedthat systems are
in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks.
The Trust continues to deposit money with institutions to earn interest.
It is the intentionto continue to support childrenwith dyslexiaby payingpart or all of their school fees. The
grants are means tested.

Structure, governance and management
The Trust was established by a charitable trust deed on 10 November 1979, by which it is governed.
The Trustees who served during the year and up to the date of signature of the financial statements were:

Trustees are recruited and appointed by the existing board members.
The Trustees are both custodians of the Trust assets and responsible for managing its day to day affairs.

1. Charity information
TheNevilleBrownFoundationForTheEducationOfTheUnderachievingDyslexicis an
unincorporated charitable trust established by a trust deed on 10 November 1979.
2. Accounting policies
Basis of preparing the financial statements
The accountshavebeenpreparedin accordancewiththe Trust'scharitabletrust deed,the Charities
Act2011and"AccountingandReportingbyCharities:StatementofRecommended Practice
applicableto charitiespreparingtheiraccountsin accordancewiththe FinancialReporting Standard
applicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland(FRS102)`(asamendedforaccounting periods
commencing from 1 January 2016). The Trust is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.
TheTrusthastakenadvantageoftheprovisionsintheSORPforcharitiesapplyingFRS102 Update
Bulletin 1 not to prepare a Statement of Cash Flows.
The accountshavedepartedfrom the Charities(Accountsand Reports)Regulations2008 onlyto the
extentrequiredto providea true and fair view.This departurehas involvedfollowingthe Statement
of RecommendedPracticefor charitiesapplyingFRS 102 ratherthan the versionof the Statement of
Recommended Practice which is referred to in the Regulations but which has since been withdrawn.
Thefinancialstatementshavebeenpreparedunderthehistoricalcostconvention.The principal
accounting policies adopted are set out below.
Income
IncomeisrecognisedwhentheTrustislegallyentitledtoitafteranyperformanceconditions have
been met, the amounts can be measured reliably, and it is probable that income will be received.
Cashdonationsarerecognisedonreceipt.OtherdonationsarerecognisedoncetheTrusthas been
notifiedof the donation,unlessperformanceconditionsrequiredeferralof the amount.Income tax
recoverableinrelationtodonationsreceivedunderGiftAidordeedsofcovenantisrecognised at
the time of the donation.
LegaciesarerecognisedonreceiptorotherwiseiftheTrusthasbeennotifiedofan impending
distribution,the amountis known,and receiptis expected.If the amountis not known,the legacy is
treated as a contingent asset.
Taxation
The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities.
Fund accounting
Unrestrictedfundscan be usedinaccordancewiththecharitableobjectivesat thediscretionof the
trustees.
Restrictedfunds can only be used for particularrestrictedpurposeswithinthe objects of the charity.
Restrictionsarisewhenspecifiedbythedonororwhenfundsareraisedforparticular restricted
purposes.

Fund accounting
The charity's funds are all unrestricted.
Going concern
Atthetimeofapprovingthefinancialstatements,theTrusteeshaveareasonableexpectation that
theTrusthasadequateresourcestocontinueinoperationalexistencefortheforeseeable future.
Thus the Trusteescontinueto adopt the goingconcernbasisof accountingin preparingthe financial
statements.
