Para 1.17 | The Objects of the Charity are to advance the education of the pupils at the School by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at the school (not normally provided by the Local Education Authority) and as an ancillary thereto and in furtherance of this object the Charity may: (i) foster more extended relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school. (ii) engage in activities which support the school and advance the education of the pupils attending it. |
| Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts. |

Some of these events also raise funds for the Charity’s objects. (ii) The Charity has provided financial support to the School to help advance pupils’ education and learning, helping the School to fund the following: •books and other educational equipment •enrichment activities for all pupils. •sports and music equipment •transport costs for educational visits •equipment and materials for the Early Years provision. |

Para 1.18 | The Trustees of the Charity are mindful of the long- standing requirement to provide public benefit and of the disclosure requirements of the Charities Act 2011. | Policy on grant making | Para 1.38 | Money raised is provided to the School in response to requests by staff members (which are voted on by the committee). The Friends of Dr South’s also approaches School staff to offer funding for education and enrichment resources. The School makes requests each year and also requests funding for high-value items every few years (e.g. IT resources, playground equipment) which requires the Charity to save money over several years in order to meet these costs. |

Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | The net profit from the Charity’s fundraising activities this year is £14,198.02. A significant proportion of this money (£6,939.99) was raised through the Islip Big Bike Ride in May 2022. The most profitable events organised by members of the Charity have been the sale of Christmas trees (£1,532.25) and the Quiz Night (£1,557.45). Regular giving to the Charity’s ‘Sparkle Fund’ has raised £1,444.80 this year. The Charity has provided a total of £7,050.41 of funding to the School during the year – purchasing valuable resources for use in the classroom as well as enhancing the School’s extra-curricular offering – for example by funding whole-school activities during ‘Science Week’. After almost two years without whole-school shows, concerts etc (caused by the COVID pandemic), the funding provided by the Charity to support these has been particularly valuable – both for the pupils’ learning and development and as opportunities to foster relationships between staff, parents and others associated with the School. |

Financial Review
| Financial Review | ||
|---|---|---|
| Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period |
Para 1.21 | The Charity has raised £14,198.02 this year, which has led to a net increase in funds of £7,058.40. As a result, the Charity has total assets of £42,292.21. |
| Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held |
Para 1.22 | The Charity’s reserves policy is to maintain sufficient free reserves to enable it to meet its financial obligations and commitments to the school for at least a year. We also aim to maintain sufficient funds to meet additional, larger requests from the School in the near future. |
| Amount of reserves held | Para 1.22 | As explained above, the Charity’s net assets currently amount to £42,292.21. This is more than required under the reserves policy, but we are expecting to receive a significant increase in requests from the School over the next 2-3 years – in part as a result of reductions in government funding. Forthcoming plans include a major revamp of the School’s ICT provision and resources. |

This year, these have included May Day and Jubilee celebrations, a ‘soup lunch’, Quiz Night and end-of-term discos, the sale of Christmas trees and second-hand clothes/uniform sales. This year the Charity also benefitted significantly from the ‘Islip Big Bike Ride’ held in May 2022, which raised money for the Friends of Dr South’s School and St Nicholas Church, Islip. For ease of administration, all the funds raised by the Bike Ride during the year under review (£20,485.00) were paid to the Friends of Dr South’s School, which then passed on to St Nicholas Church the latter’s share of those funds (£11,649.29).
