Try consist of a Royal Charter, which in tum gives authonty to the Bye Laws of the Association and The Policy Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association How the charity is constituted The Group is a trust established under rts rules which are common to all Scouts Trustse selection methods The Trustees are appointed in accordance with the Policy Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association Addltional governance Issues The Group is managed by the Group ExecutNe Committee, the members of which are the 'Charity Trustees" of the Scout Group that is an educational chanty. A comprehensive insurance policy is in plao to ensure that insurable risks are covered for the scout building and contents.

Section C Objectives and activities Summary of the objectives of the charity as set out in its governing document The objective of the Group is as a untt of the Scout Association. The Aim of The Scout Association is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical. intellectual, social and spirrtual potenkn'als. as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local national and intemational communrties. The method of achieving the Aim of the Association is by providing an enjoyable and attrathve s¢heme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and Law and guided by adult leadership. Summary of the main activities in relatlon to these objectlves The Group's main function is to SLSPPOrt the Sections comprising Beavers, Cubs and Scouts achieving the aims of the Scout Association. These Sections within the Group continued to provide weekly meetings for approximately 80-90 young people between the age of 6 and 14 years. giving them fun. challenge and adventure through the Scout Association Training Programme appropnate to their age Activities are provided appropriate for the Sections including activities such as cooking, model making, painting, team games, quizzes. mapping, archery and outdoor activtties v￿ather pemiitting. All Sections can also get involved in camping or other outdoor adivitiesl¢hallenges through the year. Several Adult Leaders, Young Leaders, Helpers and other Skills Instructors provide their time generously on a voluntary unpaid basis to support the Scout Association Training Programme. PubliclPrivats Benefft Subscriptions are charged for membership of Groups and Explorer Unrts in the District to cover immediate running costs aTrJ these do nol unduly restrict membership. The Group follows the principle that no one should be excluded t*cause of their inability to pay membership subscr]ptions. In the Group two key principles demonstrate that Scouting aims are for the public benefit. These are that through the Scout methi)d young people develop torwards their full potential and that there is a clear link between the benefrts for young people and the purpose of Scouting. The safety of young people is taken very seriously and the beneffts Scoub'ng activities provide far outweigh the risks. Any pnvate beneffts from ScoLrting are incidental. other than to those as a beneficiary. Section D Achievements and perfomiance Summary of the maln achievements of the charity during the year The Group undertook a numbèr of actNities in support of the local communty. This includes the major fund-raising efft)rt of the Chnstmas Postal servi￿ operated join￿Y in Swindon and the surrounding towns and villages with the Scout Groups of Swindon North. Support has atso been provided at local school and thur¢h fetes ¥￿th stalls manned by volunteers and young people from the Sections The Scout Group continued to provide good opportunrties for their members to progress their leaming and skills with dtfferent Scouting adivitps, with older scouts being helped to achieve their Chief Scouts Gokl Award.

Soction E Flnancial revlew Policy on Reserves The Group policy on reserves is to hold sufficient resources to continue the charttable activrties of the Group should income and fundraising actNities fall short. The Group Executive Committee considers that the group should hold a sum equivalent to 12 months running costs, representing approximately £10.000 {covers memtership fees, insurance. uts'lrties, badges. unifoms, allowance for building repairs bul no activib'es). The Group holds excess free reserves against this amount at year-end. Further financial rèview details The Group does not have sufficient funds to invest in longer tem investments. The Group has therefore adopted a risk averse strategy to the investment of its funds. All funds are held in cash using only mainstream banks or building societies.
