REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 5 APRIL 2023 The trustees present their annual report and financial statements for the year ended S April 2023. The financial statements have been preparèd in accordance with th8 accounting policiès sat out in nota to thè financial statements and comply with the trust's governing document, the Charities Act 2011 and 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Ststement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their acrnunts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland {FRS 1021" leffeclive 1 JanLJary 20191. Oblectlves and actlvltles The objectives of Ihe trust are the relief of poverty, the advan¢ement of education, the advancement of religion and such olher charitable purposes as may be benefiaal to the community as the trustees in their absolule discretion shall think fil. The trustees have paid due regard lo guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public ben8fil. Achievements and performance Whilst never slavishly following percentsgtrs in deciding upon donations, the general policy is lo distribute all income year by year together with a percentage of capital. Generally around 20Y¢ of the distributed cash is reserved for annual donations and the rernainder fu "one-o grants, many of them in answer to specific appeals, particularly local ones or where specific interest arises, i.e. local Parish Churches. Miscellaneous - 28° The accounts show the specific beneficiaries reached in note 2. Thus, the objects of the Charity are being fulfilled, having regard to its governing document. The proportions distributed in particular directions and amounts le.g. lo various Forces Charities and various Pcc'sl naturally reflect the particular interest of the found and the Trustees. Financial rèvièw It is the policy of the trust that unrestricted funds which have not been designated for a specific use should be maintained al a level equivalent to between three and six month's expenditure. The trustees considers that reserves al this level will ensure that, in the event of a significant drop in funding, they will be able lo continue the trust's current activities while consideration is given lo ways in which additional funds May be raised. This level of reserves has been maintained throughout the year. The capital of the Trust under management as al 5 April 2023 consists of the following.. The trustees now indude other members of the Taylor family following the resignation of MrA R Taylor (the founder) due to his advancing years and his subsequent death in 2011. The administration of the trust is now being carried out in a day to day basis by Susan Taylor, thus redLscAng overheads and increasing the funds available for charitable purposes. The Trust is a registered charity and its chanty registration number is 275560. The origins of the Trust and the influences lo which the Trustees have been subject have affected their policy. In 1976 the company of which Mr Taylor became Chairman ceased to be private and became quoted on the Stock Exchange. Mr Taylor found himself in possession of investments in eX￿sS of the needs of himself and his family and therefore he decided to fund charitable work, just as his father before him had done. IHIS father founded the first Lads Club in Manchester- in the deprived area ofAncoals in 1984}. The aims of the Trust remain thè same following the change of Trustees. Apart from his marriage, by far the most profound influence upon Mr Taylor throughout his life was his experience as an office in the Grenadier Guards during War11, Including two years In the line in North Africa and Italy In an infantry battalion.
