structure, governance and management
The charity was created by a Deed of Trust daled 1 March 1978 and the policy of the Trustees has been
consistent throughout. The trustees now indude other members of the Taylor family following the resignation of
MrA R Taylor (the founder) due to his advancing years and his subsequent death in 2011. The administration of
the trust is now being carried out in a day to day basis by Susan Taylor, thus redLscAng overheads and increasing
the funds available for charitable purposes.
The Trust is a registered charity and its chanty registration number is 275560.
The origins of the Trust and the influences lo which the Trustees have been subject have affected their policy. In
1976 the company of which Mr Taylor became Chairman ceased to be private and became quoted on the Stock
Exchange. Mr Taylor found himself in possession of investments in eX￿sS of the needs of himself and his family
and therefore he decided to fund charitable work, just as his father before him had done. IHIS father founded the
first Lads Club in Manchester- in the deprived area ofAncoals in 1984}. The aims of the Trust remain thè same
following the change of Trustees.
Apart from his marriage, by far the most profound influence upon Mr Taylor throughout his life was his experience
as an office in the Grenadier Guards during War11, Including two years In the line in North Africa and Italy
In an infantry battalion. His admiration for the marvellous men he led, many of whom were killed and wounded.
cau58d him to r8solve that his first priority should b8 Servic8 Charit18s. This refl8Ct8d in th8 P8rc8ntag8 of the
Trust income directed there. This remains a priority of the Trust.
The Trustees, being mindful of the founderfs declining health in the last few years of his life have made
cx)ntributions towards elderly heath care.
