SORP reference
Policy on grant making Para 1.38
Policy on social investment
including program related
investment
Para 1.38 We did put funds aside during 2023 to
save for a new Minibus as and when that
time occurs.
We have since found out that if we hadn’t
done this, we could have applied for a
local grant for a new minibus!
We have invested in converting our old
shed into a Workshop to enable all
Sections to benefit – we do however need
to complete the electrics and make it
usable during the winter months.
We have also put in place a savings
account for hut maintenance which came
in handy when we needed a new boiler.
Contribution made by
volunteers
Para 1.38 All of our volunteers have given as much
of their time and energy as they can.
We do however need to somehow attract
more volunteers.
Leaders are constantly planning, trying
new activities and encouraging all of our
young people to challenge themselves.

benefits to society as a

Para 1.20 The Charity, known as “1st Portishead
Scouting Group” has encouraged our
young people to continue to engage in all
activities whether indoors in our Hut or

This has benefitted their mental health,
whilst developing them personally and
empowering them to make positive social
interactions.
We have recruited locally, engaging new
helpers and leaders to participate and
benefit their wider community.
We have invested in the refurbishment of
our old garage into a fully enclosed
